Alright, alright, let's all be cool about this.
Sorry, the mental image of Cthulhu telling everyone to chill out makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.  ;D

I think the problem Neruz has is that you're deviating from the actual discussion he's trying to have to talk about things that are not a part of that discussion.

I think his problem is, basically, that your discussion is not his discussion and he hates it when you try to say it is.

Of course, I could be dead wrong, and I'm not actually going to defend that point of view, merely see if I'm right in guessing what is getting Neruz annoyed and if I am, he can defend the point from there on in.

By the way; to clarify Kael, since apparantly you're either allergic to reading posts or on a different planet, i do not have the opinion that Avatar's story is 'fantastic', i have never expressed this opinion, nor have i ever complained about Avatar's story being compared to others. Either you are deliberately making things up in order to annoy me, or you are actually delusional.

I'm taking it as a personal attack because I like it, and by saying it is a crappy and shallow movie, you are claiming I like crappy and shallow movies, and I disrespect and dislike people who like crapy and shallow movies, thus such a claim is an insult.

Okay. Right. Thank God I edited that.

Armok, because I am rubbish at these things, were you in fact referring to Neruz or someone else?

As i said before; there are only so many stories in the world. It's inevitable that some will be told twice.
And if you think Pocahontas was the first time that particular story was told, you are in for a nasty surprise.
All i said was that if you think it contains no differences then you've not watched one of the two movies. I've already previously stated, repeatedly, that the story is by no means original
Jesus christ i am getting so sick of idiots leaping forward into stupid posts like that during discussions on the internet. It makes it fucking impossible to have a discussion.
In fact, over the years, they've been retold billions of times. It's not the story that makes something good; it's how it's told.
The core story thread is the same. But the reasons for the characters actions and the specifics around why the story advances the way it does are quite different.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but if you weren't complaining you were talking about how the "stories are being compared" for quite a few posts right above.

I think you guys should not take it as a personal attack when I say a movie is shallow and stupid. If you take offense every time someone thinks something you like is stupid, well you're going to be angry a lot on the internet, or a real hit at the parties. ::) Let's all relax.

Wait. Does not this

Combined with this

Equal: "Hey, the story isn't original but it has its own way of going about things and is quite good. Nothing wrong with being original"?

There's nothing wrong with that. I don't agree about the story being good, which was the part of the discussion I was pointing out.

And Armok, if me criticizing the movie makes you feel shallow and stupid too, well I'm sorry. I'm not implying that and it's a matter of opinions. We all have friends who like things we don't like, and while we can say it's shit it doesn't mean the person is shit. Just clarifying that so the thread doesn't explode.

Please locate the 'quite good' in those two quotes.

Armok has a good point.  A gaming journalist (I can't remember their name and my internet is being retarded) gave Max Payne like a 40 out of 100.  I'm going to sue them for slander because they were publicly criticizing a game I liked, therefore my tastes, therefore me.

Just came back, and I liked it. Maybe the story isn't really original, but isn't this kind of stuff what we really need? Sure technology for growing the neurolink trees is worth more than some stupid unobtainium?

I would have preferred more exotic creatures designs, maybe even less humanoid Na'vi, just to make the human sympathy less "cheap". Still, it's good even just for the special effects.

My 2 cents.
