Theres a difference betwen plausibility and realism, scifi is realy abaut the first.

What i mean is, you run an electric current through Unobtainium, and it creates a gravitational field.

Yes it makes no sense whatsoever. That's where the 'Fiction' part comes in.

And this is only because a sci fi movie. If this was about a sci fi book we'd have went through the 9th layer of hell and back already, specially if it involved certain pretentious sci fi writers, like Orson Scott Card and Harlan Ellison.
