Not to mention engineers have been naming frictionless and super strong substances that for years. All theoretical.

The engineers working on the blackbird spyplane used to call titanium "unobtanium" because they had to use the stuff for the hull, but Russia was actively cornering the market.

Why the hell would we depend on viruses? Hell, our viruses can't infect most life on our own planet. We would send over germs, fungi and bacteria that would eat them alive.

Imagine the bad publicity when it got out that The Company unleashed biological weapons on primitive natives and commited genocide just to get at rocks.

Yeah, we'd have to give the survivors casinos and everything!

They can claim it was some benign Earth microbe that didn't play well with Pandorans, and it was all just a big accident. Really, a company as rich as that can buy all the media and spin doctors it needs.

Or a pittance settlement, like when The Company accidentally poisoned those other Indians.

For the most part, bioweapons are seen as even worse than nuclear weapons. Definately not something to be used casually.

I suppose we can't commit genocide.  The furries already act like we're Nazis, we don't want to prove them right.

Merely landing on the planet will cause genocide. The fact that the governments of the future don't ban landing on planets with alien life is a major oversight that will be blamed on the government not being stern enough with its interstellar environmental protection.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

A movie about furries made 200+ million fast. It would seem like there's no hard feelings, except the sex (-.\\\)

Correction, blue-skinned alien-elf-cat-things made 200+ million.  What did The Incredible Mr. Fox make?

I suppose that future astronauts trawling the galaxy for alien life might want to maintain a very strict sterilization protocol for such things.

Nah, let's just run around planets exchanging horrible diseases.  Discretion is the better part of being a pussy.

You know, when you land on a planet, you're landing on every planet that that planet's been with.

Or something like that.
