The humans obviously did not have enough dakka.

I might go see this movie, although I'm with Josh on this one.

Jake Sully waited. The plants above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were Na'vis in the jungle. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Colonel Quaritch were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway. Jake was a marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the Pandora daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY NA'VIS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the home of the hostiles he knew there were Na'vis.
"This is Quaritch" the radio crackered. "You must fight the Na'vis!"
So John gotted his rifle and blew up the tree.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the Na'vis
"I will shoot at him" said the Tsu'Tey and he fired the poisoned arrows. John shot at him and tried to blew him up. But then the Home Tree fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the Na'vis" he shouted
The radio said "No, Jake. You are the aliens"
And then Jake was a Na'vi.

I think I'm gonna wait a two and a half years before seeing this, like I did with Charlie and the chocolate factory.
Any particular reason why?

You know, it just seems like the type of movie that you can put off seeing indefinitely, and then you can watch it when the Tv execs throw up their hands and edit out all the swearing and nudity so they can air it on Tv. THEN I'll watch it.

Lousy movie theater's like 20 miles away too.

The willow-like trees were essentially a planet's brain. The human's were asking for it by the end, although noone would be that stupid in real life. And maybe they didn't nuke the place because Unobtainium is explosive/combustible?

And I'm pretty sure the mechs weren't designed to take out the Na'vi, more the oversized predatory animals that were hanging around.

That's why they should've virus-bombed it.

Hey, they would not need to virus bomb the thing. Just send down somebody with a cold for a few minutes and leave the place alone for a year or so as the common cold kills them off War of the Worlds style.

Which does make one wonder why they sent mechs designs to fight mechs...

Did anyone else hear the "muscles enhanced with naturally occurring carbon-fibres" part? I'm sure that was what you'd be arguing about the most. ;)

I don't think the mechs were designed to fight other mechs. A walker design is generally handy for uneven terrain, like a forest. Not to mention that the bayonets on the weapons and the oversized combat-knives would be pointless against a mech with a gun, but quite useful if ambushed by one of those cat things.

Technically, the aliens' DNA-to-protein code could be (and probably would be) entirely different than ours, making any virus' attempt at reproduction produce garbage proteins, if anything.

Why the hell would we depend on viruses? Hell, our viruses can't infect most life on our own planet. We would send over germs, fungi and bacteria that would eat them alive.

It's funny, because the same could happen to us.

Maybe.
