My first shot at an RTD. They seem simple enough. My LevelUp one sees you trying to level up as well as other stuff. There are a load of skills to level up, so... yeah. Some players may start of better than others, some players may fall behind. It will look interesting.

The main principle of the game are levels. There are a list of things you can level up, until MAX(5). Every level up in one sector will add 1 to your roll next time it comes of importance. Of course, this means you can have up to 11, so we may need to take a look at the table...

1-You did what you were trying to do so bad, you gave yourself a major negative effect in the process
2-You barely did what you were trying to do, and managed to earn a minor negative effect.
3-You struggled to do what you meant to do, but managed to do it without doing yourself a mischief.
4-You did your action fairly mediokerly.
5-You did your action normally without hindering yourself.
6-You did your action good, gaining a very minor bonus.
7-You did your action brilliantly, earning a regular bonus.
8-You performed your action amazingly, earning a larger-than-7 bonus.
9-You excecuted your action flawlessly, gaining a major boost.
10-You overdid your action, thus doing yourself a minor negative effect.
11-You really overdid things, developing a major negative effect.

To start the game, you will have anything between 5 and 30 upgrade points-5d6 will decide. When you LevelUp (by gaining 100EXP), you will gain upgrade points equal to 1d6 plus your LevelUp level. All leves start at 0. You will gain EXP to the equivelant of any role taken on your go multiplied by your EXP level plus 1.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Unrelated:
Did you see my RTD? I had managed to get a (mostly untested) decent system for fractional modifiers completely based on a physical d6 that I used exclusively (No internet site or PC-based randomizer). In general, a fractional modifier was n/s where n was the modifier and s was the number of sides on the die(I always used s=6). If a roll of the die was equal or less than n, it would be +1, otherwise +0.

I've noticed a problem with this, as long as people keep their 'level' at three, they end up being in a sweet spot, no fails or overshots are possible in this situation.

Yeah the level 3 aspect is a little explotive.  Though look like I missed sign ups here. :/ silly holiday stuff.

Oh well, lemme on the waiting list I suppose.

That's easy to fix: Add difficulty modifiers. For instance, trying to jump in place 10 inches into the air gets no modifier, but trying to leap up 10 feet into the air would have a pretty significant -3 on the roll. Trying to leap 100 feet into the air should have a very consequential -9 to the roll. Trying to leap 1000 feet into the air, well, let's just hope you've packed your god magics, you're getting, let's say, -20 to the roll.

As long as the challenge of our foes keeps going up, eventually, you'll need to raise up your stats more so you can do more challenging actions.

The thing about overshots is that they actually punish you for raising your stats too high and attempting actions that are too easy. On the one hand, you can do hard actions, and overshots are quite fun. On the other hand, you still need to do easy actions fairly often, and too many overshots would make things hard and frustrating.

"I light our campfire"

"6(roll)+5(skill)=11 - you light the campfire, as well as the camp, the campers, the campgrounds, and the nearby encampment of nomads. They start attacking you.

Which, oddly, would be solved by instead doing

"I light our campfire while standing on one hand"

"6(roll)+5(skill)-2(extra difficult)= 9, You get a good healthy fire blazing. The exersize increases your arm strength, too"

OK... it's fairly obvious that I have 8 players. I will use difficulty modifiers, I didn't notice the sweet spot. Guys, choose what you want to level up;
