I need a gift for a friend, and this person likes collecting knives.

The only physical store around is Excalibur, but I'm looking for more selection than that.

Anyone else interested in stuff like this? Have and good links to reputable knife manufacturers?

"Knives" is a pretty broad category. What kind? If you mean those silly fantasy knives and swords and the rest of that, I have no idea, but if he collects hunting or military-type knives, you probably want something like Gerber or Spyderco. (A nice, useful utility knife on the cheap is something like the Gerber Powerframe; a friend of mine has one, and I'm looking at getting one myself.)

Their prices aren't the best, but Cabela's tends to have a nice wide selection and easy shipping.

Well, as my graduation/enlistment present for myself, I'm planning on putting a knife on order from Jay Fischer. But that'd be overkill for every type of gift out there.

Also be sure to assure quality when shopping for anything metal online, make sure it's made of tempered steel, and is well made.

They have A lot of information about what to look for when buying weapons, and links to places where you are assured quality, for a good price, and tips about maintaining your arsenal. 

You could probably buy him a small vial of oil for a bit of maintenance as well.

Why am I foreseeing...

Mass murder
 
  Yesterday a young man, armed with a combat knife,burst into an elementary school in Seattle, lashing eight children to death and wounding 18 other children and three adults while shouting "We need a slogan".  He was subdued by a vice principal and a teacher before the police arrived.
  He was arrested at the scene, but was taken to a hospital, reportedly with self-inflicted injuries.    He later claimed to having been brainwashed by some sort of sect and remains of pot brownies were found in his bagpack.

The victims -- six girls and two boys -- were first- or second-grade students, ranging in age from 6 to 8.  Mostly children from CEO's of known companies in the area.

Parent's blame the internet and specifically dwarves...

"Dwarves are evil.  Dwarves should be banned" Said one of the parents.
