How I Killed Your Master
« on: December 21, 2009, 07:15:53 pm »

This comic by Brian Clevinger, the same guy that does 8-bit Theater, as well as some other guys, has made this much better drawn comic about martial artists.

This new comic shows STARTLING starting quality, and amazing potential overall. I look forward to seeing where this one goes.

What's bad, however, was when HIKYM was started, 8-theater plummeted in quality, which is disappointing, but this is an excellent trade-off.

That was a hell of a read. I am very impressed by the quality of the art and the writing. I may have to keep an eye on this.

And 8-bit Theatre has been sucking for a while. The last really funny strips were in the Water Temple. I stopped reading a long while ago.

I'm suffering from ending fatigue about 8-bit right now. I kinda wish it ended with BM either winning or Red Mage and Thief finally putting their problems aside for long enough to stop him. As it stands, I am disappoint.

But HIKYM is a really nice read, and the art is great.

The first thing I noticed when I clicked the link is that Brian's avatar is a Tau Pulse Rifle and Sickle.

It would be extremely funny for BM to actually take over. The only problem is it's too unrealistic... I mean how would he ever hit anything?! Anyway, I agree, 8-bit theater has seriously degraded in quality for the last 100-200 strips.

Well, when he was still in super powered (more) evil side mode, he actually succeeded at killing Fighter and Thief. The RM vs BM showdown would have been so awesome, except Sarda had to pull his usual jackassery.

But fighter had his back turned, and thief really isn't that great in a fight. Nevertheless, BM vs RM still would have been very awesome... and might destroy the universe through collateral damage.

Hehe. I'm actually wondering if RM could have mimed the tendrils-of-evil thing. The problem there is that he has to wait for BM to do something before he can do that thing, but since BM's accuracy is atrocious like you said, he probably has a good chance of winning.

I think fighter might actually be the strongest of the group, not only is he the most skilled.... fighter, but he can block anything, up to and including the earth itself. Plus his death never sticks for more than a few panels, though admittedly that's mainly because BM's "stabbity death" seems to be about as dangerous as a toothpick to anyone except peasants.

8-bit theater has seriously degraded in quality for the last 100-200 800-900 strips.

Fix'd. Man, it's been a while since I've been on Nuklear Power... Pretty art on HIKYM at least.

Yup, good art, bland writing, too many pointless panels.

There was one masterstroke, though. The callback. It was awesome.
