I've made no modification to my game, first time I've had this msg

'your ruler has arrived - dressed as a peasant'

It was a bit shocking to see this



The ruler of my dwarfs is a goblin queen???

Its even a goblin icon!

Is this normal or some disguise?

Actually, it does happen that goblins can be members of your home civilisation.  Usually it's the Hamlet/etc Liaison, in my experience, and I've never seen any royal of mine (albeit that my ratio of royal encounters to total games is a bit low, to start with) being of an alternative race, but from the various (obviously worldgen-created) mixes of civilisations and cultures I have encountered (e.g. goblin hordes composed almost entirely of elves, and a couple of dwarfs) I wouldn't put it past the code to produce something like that.

Thing is she just shows as 'tame' in the unit list, and I cant even assign her a room for some reason

Yeah, that's a bug in the handling of nobles that originated in other civilizations. I've seen it mentioned before in the forum, but it doesn't seem to be in the bug list...

How many ways can this happen, I can think of two

- Goblins civ conquered by dwarves and she/her parents surrendered

or

-Goblins conquered your civ, and then there was an uprising, or a different dwarf civ reconquered it.

does anyone know any other ways?

The "dressed as a peasant" thing usually means you've found adamantium and the king/queen arrived early to get in on it.  As far as I can tell there isn't actually a disguise.

There's a thread about an Elf King somewhere, the player basically had to chain him up in the throne room since he couldn't assign him properly.

If I hadn't already read the thread and witnessed how EPIC that elf was I would so call heresy on that, as is it Cacame ftw!!

Yeah the goblin queen of dwarfs in a cage in the corner - thats all I can do with her really now.

give her a chain infront of a throne, then fill the room with statues and stuff.

Use dwarf companion to give her a random weapon and throw a megabeast at her, if she survives, she may be the next cacame.

Thn after than use moar modding to put them both in a single fortress to rule as King and Queen of the dwarves

Also use dwarf companion or w/e to change the queen into a pet, this way it wil latleast be better and fetch its own water and food if needed...

Dude, a goblin queen?  That's 4 kinds of epic.  I only wish they acted like a regular noble, instead of a pet.  Still, awesome sauce.
