Hiring mercs doesn't make much sense for the LCS.  Fighting for money is conservative behavior.  Liberals fight out of self sacrifice.

Half the stuff the LCS do is Conservative.
Buy Military weapons, Check.
Use Scare tactics, Check.
Kill People for use of the wrong speech, Check.
Torture People, Check.
I could continue

Yes, but there is a difference between hypocrisy and hypocrisy.

Yes, but there is a difference between hypocrisy and hypocrisy.

Yeah, ones in italics

I get where your coming from, in-fact it seams like the original people who wanted hitman have now figured out how to attack the CCS on their own.

I think that the LCS still needs hit-men or hired goons of some sort, but I'm not sure what form they would be in.

On a side-note I began thinking of a cool little feature to get the government a little more responsive. Like, maybe assassinating the president. It could backfire though, if the people support the conservatives then it should push LOTS of new A-C laws into action plus immediately electing a new A-C president, if they support liberals, or just don't care about the president, then they hold a new election in a few months during which time policies can't be vetoed.

I'm not American, I think the vice-president actually takes over, but this method is more fun.

Maybe allow the CCS to assassinate a liberal president.
IMO the CCS's ability to change peoples opinions needs to be buffed a bit. All they do at the moment is randomly go around and shoot people. They're a hindrance to the player, but they don't effect politics(At least I haven't noticed it).

The CCS should pseudo-do what the LCS do, even so you can just attack them back without a full blown raid. Maybe they have gun-dealers on the streets(Brownies) or people soliciting donations. Then you can set someone to go CCS hunting, killing the gun dealers and rest of their street people. Then you might be able to hinder the CCS even without a full blown attack force.

That exact possibility is why one of the members of the chain of presidential secession is flown to a secret bunker during presidential addresses to congress.

The only other options I can think of is national revolution and foreign invasion.

There is a force in american politics far more powerful then nuclear weapons.  That force is sex scandals.  Understand that america is a nation of prudes who are obsessed with sex; sex scandals can move mountains here.

Sufficiently juicy sex scandals can not only destroy a politicians career, but deal a huge, huge setback to their movement.  Perfect example; the Clinton presidency was, by almost any objective measurement a huge f*ing success and Gore would have had a cakewalk victory if Willie had kept his willie in his pants.

Over a hundred thousand people have died violent deaths in the fighting over the future of Iraq as a direct result of the policies pursued by the rival of his defeated successor. Whatever your opinion on how things turned out, it's clear that the ramifications of sex scandals in the United States can be quite literally life and death on a massive scale.

As it applies to LCS, I would agree there should be some mechanic for an unpopular President to get booted or otherwise pressured. Perhaps when public opinion is strongly against the President, he or she will waffle into better alignment, or maybe the VP will do the shift and then backstab them during a scandal that forces the President's resignation. This could only happen for smaller shifts; larger shifts could have Congress pass an amendment that subjects the President to a 2/3 no confidence vote, followed by an immediate national election.

Simply violent death wouldn't do it; the US government has continuity of government measures to ensure there is always an available successor even in total apocalypse.

So the key to destroying the presidential line is an orgy.  ;D

With those not available for participation in the orgy getting seduced beforehand.

Just further proves that the prostitutes are the ultimate weapon in the LCS armory.

Killing the president and his entire administration would still send out a very strong message, wouldn't it :P?

That Singapore idea sounds much better...   with the President/Congress/Everyone living and operating in the city you are in.

Yeah, you might be able to scare the replacement into never turning up :)

Sir, I've come to you, your the next in line to be president.
Um, but weren't there like, 5 other guys above me.
Yeah, but there has been a recent spree of assassinations and....
Ok ... Just a sec, I've got to issue a press statement saying I'm quitting politics and moving to europe

It is a bit OTT, but still :)

At least the violent approach would leave an impression on the new guy. If he's A-C and the public hate him, then I imagine he would switch sides quickly

If it was done though it would need to be extremely hard, needing to sacrifice a fully trained squad, plus a high chance of a massive raid

I think they might show up anyways. And what if you kill all 23 people and then by that time they've voted like 5 more of them in?

Well, I'm all for putting fear of the LCS into the game as a mechanic, but I'm not sure what anyone else thinks about this.  You could also try blackmail - perhaps "Don't veto this proposition or you die to" or "Don't cast your deciding vote against us or we publish the pictures".  Actually, blackmail in general could be an interesting mechanic - you could use it for financial gain, direct political actions, votes in the supreme court and to create temporary "sleepers".

Actually, I might make my own thread about blackmail... hmm...
