Ice Dwarves
« on: December 17, 2009, 11:30:18 pm »

On a whim, I made dwarf body temperature absurdly cold in the hopes that they could approach bodies of water and make them freeze. However, I couldn't find a way of doing this without the dwarves dying. Any advice?

Make sure you've changed HOMOTHERM to FIXED_TEMP (the former simulates body temperature semi-realistically, the latter is just a fixed value. If you're using the former it's possible that your dwarfs are overheating). Also, removing STANDARD_FLESH seems to help, but nobody seems to fully understand what it does anyway, although it doesn't appear to break anything if you get rid of it.

Also, if you do get this working, don't let them fall into water. It'll freeze around them and kill them.

Alternately, let your enemies enter a knee high pool, and drop a noble in. Two birds with one snowball...
