I'm curious how Sowelu is "unmodded" (turning off invasions), while Hardrada is "modded" (embarking with bears) ?

Turning of invasions is an init.txt option, rather than something you change with the raws.

Yep, init modifications are almost never considered modding. You can turn on/off some features, but other than that you really can't change the game much from there. If init modifications counted as modding, all 4 would be in this section, since I disabled temp, weather, and capped my population at 40 (although for some reason it still increased to 70 before immigration stopped). And all it takes to make invasions no longer a problem is a handful of strategically placed weapon traps. I had about 2 dwarves in total lost in the final 5 or so years of the game to goblins since my entrance had a double ring of weapon traps with a scattering of some more even further out. So for a competition map which takes many years to play through, invasions might as well be turned off for all the effect they have on the game.
