Man in Japan Marries Vidjagame Character
« on: December 17, 2009, 10:33:37 pm »

The most informative article I could find.

Yes, a real live Japanese man married a character from a DatingSim.  Forty people came for the wedding between husband and bride (appearing via PDA), including a clergyman to make the whole thing look official.  They're honeymooning in Guam.  What they will do that hasn't already been done I don't know.  Send pictures kids.

This is sooooo old...

What, ten days is too old?  I just heard about it, and I don't see anyone else bringing it up.

Yeah, but that's less weird in a way - at least you're "marrying" someone's personality rather than a string of 1s and 0s.

I seem to remember a case where one of my friends got married on an MMO, treating the whole thing as an elaborate joke, only to find out that his prospective bride was dead fucking serious.

If he's not careful he'll end up losing all his gold to alimony payments.

He didn't make the mistake of telling her where to find him right?

Otherwise he's just dealing with a particularly dedicated PKer.

Nah, it's not a problem.  He just gets occasional angsty emo poetry from her.

My God. This is worse than that woman who married the Berlin wall. She had an affair with a fence, if I remember correctly.

This may be rude to ask, I dunno, but...

I really don't want to encourage this discussion, but...  You have to ask?
