I would guess not, since it is pretty much like any other popular thing.  When things are bad (economically), people spend less on it.

Actually, the entertainment industry tends to do well during poor economic times; the poor economic times make people depressed so they spend more money on entertainment to cheer themselves up.

I figure that it's fairly stable.  Opposing forces, and all that.

Of course; if things get really bad then even the entertainment industry drops, as people run out of money altogether.

Not really.  Anime seems to be a boom industry, that peaked along with the economy and is now deflating a bit.

By the way, anime is a very small industry actually, riddled with labor inequalities and mismanagement, and on the decline since 2006 but due for a revival once the economy returns.
Duh, its Anime.

Well, what I was actually looking at was global DVD and merchandise sales.  Turns out that when the whole industry is taken together (including production, broadcasting and licensing and all that jazz) anime accounts for about 6% of Japan's economy.  Which for a single niche of the entertainment industry is larger than I thought.

All anime sales around the world go to japans GDP? Because i believe that korea also makes manga and in turn probably makes anime as well, and if a company buys anime rights they have to make a profit so their numbers wont match up to japans...the good thing is my economics teacher can hardly speak english so i don't think she will be able to check  ;D

Hmmmm after some deeper searching and some calculating i found that anime is currently only 1% of Japan's GDP.....is that too little for a macro economic paper?

1% is 1 out of every 100 dollars.  For an entire country that is a very large number.

The question is, how much of that 1% is from internal anime sales or through exports.

From what I understand, Japan isn't the haven of anime like most people would make it out to be.

At the same time however I heard differing accounts (Such as anime being popular because Live actors are rare because of a social stigma of acting in public)

Well, that's not what I found, but total anime industry figures don't account for Japan not being the only place anime is made.  That said, I highly doubt your professor is going to check up on that.  Honestly, just present your sources well enough, and it really doesn't matter if you're right or wrong.

Why do I find so many reasons lately to reply to you Aqizzar?

OOOO! relooked at that article and the 1% was just television anime.

the total anime industry is 5.28%......yay a few more paragraphs to type.

Quote
We've got to face the facts, guys: anime simply isn't a growing market anymore. The Association of Japanese Animations - the industry group that puts on the Tokyo International Anime Fair, among other activities - has issued a report on the current overall financial state of the anime industry. In a nutshell: profits are down by a considerable amount. The papers aren't exactly bleeding red ink, but things still aren't good: Revenues for 2007 were reported to be 239.6745 billion yen (approx. US$2.26 billion) in 2007 - a 7.4% decline from 2006's 258.7 billion yen (US$2.41 billion), I don't think anyone's going to argue that the loss of $150,000,000 in revenue isn't noteworthy.

Is that your writing?  If so, is the personal tone a good idea?

If you want to pad things out what you can add these

1) Definitions: Define anime, Heck define the Japanese economy
2) Retrospectives: Nothing pads out an essay more then pretty much explaining something almost entirely unrelated.
3) Compare: What could extend an essay more then to include ANOTHER element in the fold. Compare it to something else like food.

I never tried these before but I wouldn't be surprised.

Just BS.  Add all sorts of BS.  Every flavor!!  Try to fit as many different types of BS into an essay as you can.  Make it a game.  Make it a competition among your friends!
