I recently dug out my old collector's edition of the Wizardry games and have been enjoying some truly old school gaming. It then occurred to me that it might be fun to try a let's play of it.
For those that are unfamiliar with the game,
this site has good basic information on it.
Basically, we're going to have 6 characters go down into the dungeon, slay monsters, level up, get loot, and eventually try to kill off the evil Wizard Werdna.
This is going to be tough. Characters will die, and it may or may not be possible to bring them back (raise dead spells sometimes fail). It will also take a while, but I'll try to run this party through to either victory or total defeat in a halfway reasonable amount of time.
NOTE: Looks like we'll be doing an Evil party, so all characters will have to be Neutral or Evil. Priests and Bishops must be Evil.
Class options are Fighter, Priest, Thief, Mage, Bishop (Mage/Priest hybrid, can identify items), Samurai (Neutral Fighter/Mage hybrid), Ninja (Evil super-killer, will take a long time with lucky leveling to try to get stats for)
Character List:
- Urist - Neutral Dwarf Samurai
- Akigagak - Neutral Hobbit Thief
- Frederick IX - Evil Human Priest
- Goron - Evil Human Priest
- zchris13 - Neutral Human Fighter
- Moltar - Evil Gnome Mage
Replacement Queue:
- Karla - Evil female elven priest
- Angel, neutral Human Samurai
- Samuel 34 - Evil Human Fighter going for Ninja
The Graveyard
- Spartan - Evil Human Fighter (trying for Ninja)
The first three characters will all be melee fighters. The ones in the back can only cast spells or use items (potions, scrolls, etc), so their isn't much point in having more then three Fighter types. We can also have Thieves or Priests in the front line, although they won't do as well.
General game rules that I'm playing under:
1) No Cheats. This includes making a lot of throwaway characters for gold and farming Murphy's ghosts for xp and loot.
2) No character under level 4 will be resurrected. It's just not worth the money.
3) In the case of permanent death, the next character in the queue will be added in. If there are not enough characters for the open slots, I'll add in 'Filler' characters until someone adds their name to the list.
4) I will re-roll stats on a character until I get at least 16 points. If I get more, great, but I'm not going to spend days rolling for a party with 20+ stat bonuses. It's not worth it.
