40 new underground creatures!?  What could they be?  Discuss so i can read this on my lunch break and have things to think about while i perform menial tasks all day.

Some kind of giant burrowing worm, I hope.

Bel-Shamharoth would be nice, too. Or some variation. Like a super-tentacle-beak-mandible one-eyed demon.

I expect a lot are thnigs like giant centipedes, woodlice, etc, even though we're getting the Giant ___ and -man templates already.

Cool, although he said that very few of them are the new humanoid -man creatures.

There aren't too many real underground creatures that aren't either worms or arthropods. At least no true cave critters, those that evolved in caves.

I would say maybe some new aquatic critters and loads of arthropods.

Edit: He could also have used some cool looking forgotten ones that the RNG tossed up. Something like that shelled blob forgotten one would be cool.

That aside, I'm hoping for some interesting hybridizations of strange things.  In one of the Forgotten Realms books I read, there was, at least I interpreted from the description, a creature rather like a cross between a whip scorpion and some sort of large black cat. 

Also some purely fantastical things like flying air-breathing bioluminescent jellyfish-rays the size of VW bugs.

That was a randomly generated mega-beast.  It had bright green feathers and an austere look about it, IIRC.  Though I would heartily approve of a subterranean population of deep crows.
