I'm totally for more creatures regardless of how original they are, as long as their extremely hostile or useful to my dwarves(or they can be extremely useful and hostile like GCS's!).

 Even if they are not particularly underground-themed, I hope for Medusa. My first thread involved gaze attacks, and that's still one of the main things I want in game.
 You see a green letter M appear on your screen, then press [l], and the instant your cursor goes over it; "you have been turned to stone".

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

the Beatles!!  Finally, a use for all those musical instruments.  Rock music made of actual rocks!
