I recently told a friend of mine that Avatar looks like it's going to be Return of the Jedi with Sexy Ewoks. She immediately whined that it's nothing like Star Wars and has much more realistic science to it. So, I said, fine.

It's Dances with Wolves...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At least it's obvious to me that's what they're gunning for.

But beyond that, good and terrible movies I've actually seen. Most Recently was Inglorious Basterds, and really, what hasn't been said about the awesomeness of that movie by now? I don't think I can add much except to say that the only way to really see it is after watching 45 minutes of 1940s/50s American anti-german propaganda movies and advertisements for movie like Nazi Love Camp. Really gets you in the mood for the kind of movie you're about to see.

On the other end of the spectrum, I recommend everyone here immediately go and find a copy of Turkish Star Wars.

My god. It reminds me so much of Titan Quest.

Huh, I love Hero, at least the Jet Li one.

Speaking of good "bad" movies, Ong Bak and it's psuedo-sequel Tom yum goong or "The Protector" english title.

Best martial arts fight sequences without cgi/ropes/special effects in a terrible movie ;)

The Tuxedo, with Jackie Chan, is the only example of a movie so bad that it's good that I can think of that I've seen.  Transformers 2 was just mediocre.  It was awesome, but still mediocre.

And yes, both those words can apply to the same thing.  It's an action thing.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Blood Suckers from outer space.

Favorite line that is actually in the movie: "Oh no! Not another kung fu scene?"

Red Zone Cuba.

Worst movie ever made.  I almost couldn't finish it.  Even with Mystery Science Theater 3000 it was soporific.

Shoot. I've mostly avoided REALLY bad movies so far, but... on the topic of good ones: Kung-Fu Hustle. I can never get tired of that movie. The dubbing makes it seem like it's going to be a good-bad movie, but it ends up just being good-good. Chaotic-good. Or something.

I fucking love Kung Fu Hustle. Stephen Chow perfected everything he had been building up to in movies like Shaolin Soccer, I don't think there's anyplace for him to go to from there.

Cheesy fun plot that doesn't take itself seriously at all while having memorable characters and hilariously skewed battles courtesy of what happens when you give Hong Kong a special effects team. Also, dancing gangsters.

Horrible movies are actually good because they are so bad they are hilarious. A horrible movie that is just horrible, ugh, try pathfinder. It is so boring.

Try watching 'The Room' or 'Manos: The Hands of Fate' and afterwards Transformers 2 won't seem so bad.

No way man. Those are at least so bad they're funny. Transformers 2 had no redeeming values whatsoever, other than that most of it was filmed in places I've either been to or else live right next to.
