Your oldest fortress?
« on: December 16, 2009, 05:20:42 pm »

My current fortress "Oarguilds" was founded in 264... its now 296... 32 years.

It is by far my oldest fortress.. i usually grow tired of them at around the 10 year mark.

I'm at 15 I think. I also usualy quit after 10 years because they bore me, and I usually start on small sites so there's little space to do stuff. However, I'm now learning better to forge (never did that actually) and I'm trying a more varied diet for my dorfs. 9000+ Food and only 500 booze, they grew tired of wine so I'm farming more stuff. ^_^

My oldest fort was about seventeen years (I think). It was my fist fort to have attracted the king without striking adamantine. If I can get this fort in the sky going, it'll probably take even longer than that. :D

Yeah, my forts hardly ever last past the 10 year mark.  That's usually the point I realize I've taken it as far as it will go.  There's always the megaprojects but those get boring fast.

I always play my forts until everyones dead, and depending on my mood and what I feel like accomplishing it could be a few years or a few decades. I the longest game ever I think I played lasted into the 40's.

The oldest fort I had was a 20 something year fort.

The current one is 12 years old, the children that came as immigrants have already grown up, but soon the ones which were born at my fort will come of age.

My oldest is 35ish.

Somewhere along the way I decided to replace all the wooden bins and barrels with Cedar and WIllow ones and the trees take awhile to grow. So... time passes.

I think my oldest fort was about 35 to 40-ish as well. However, my oldest was not my largest or most impressive.

Offhand, the only fortress whose age I can remember is Thobtishak, and it's about eight years old so far.

It's funny, really, how quickly these things add up.

My mayor has had like 15 kids... 5 or 6 of them have reached adulthood... I have assigned them to the other nobility duties, manager, broker and the like.

Fortress govt is a family affair.

My oldest was about 3 years.
It was my second fort and the only one to have goblins ambush. :P

Usually my forts die due to fps as megaprojecting, digging, production, and leftover loot that can't be gathered due to risk of attack build up.

My longest fort has lasted 22 years, though it hasn't fallen yet. It's seen four or five generations of a race I modded to live ~10 years.

That and possibly lag.

Doing megaprojects are a good way to extend the life of a fort though, I'm trying to start up one right now with my current fort actually.
