Alroight. Time for a double post.
Heres the File

And heeeere's the story

***

Sigun Udibtimnar's diary.

They're dead.

Everyone, dead.

I'm the last sole survivor in this empty fortress.

But I will NOT die.

***

I get to work stockpiling all these leftover clothes, they're everywhere. No bodies in sight, just clothes.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As I take a look into the kitchen, I notice something. All the food barrels are forbidden. I can think of no logical explanation why. Other than SABOTAGE

On my wanderings through the fortress, I happen to stumble on a room full of my dead former companions. This fortress has no need for a 'Mechanic', no, I am a survivor.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Yes! A rescue squad! Surely they have come to take me home to our beautifull mountainhome!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Alas, after they get closer and appear weary from travel, I realise that like me, they're stuck here forever.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hah, 22 joined me in this place of doom, Don't they realise they're already dead?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Barely days pass, and someone has already joined the dead.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ooooh whats this? Last man too come here with that look on his face ended up mad. Lets see how this one turns out

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Interesting, finally something in this fortress that isn't completely pointless OR thirsty..

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I am lost for words. It's beautiful.

This... weapon.. I feel it calling me. When I touch it, I can hear the screams of the animals that died to make it.. They are calling me too..

Wait, NO! I refuse to succumb to death!

On the other hand... I AM sleepy...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

NO!! Wide awake, must get back to digging, can't die, no no no no no. (Around this time he really did sleep for about half a minute)

***

Summer now. Still working. Can't trust them, all they do is slack off and drink MY booze. It was better off when it was just me. I had all the food and drink. I needed nothing.

I wonder what I'm building..

I wonder why I'm building..

I know its to keep me sane.. but I feel like some power is commanding me to dig here and build this..

Oh god no, its begun again.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh god, It just won't stop..

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But wait, a shred of hope!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Being one of the first to wet my parched lips, I resume digging, my, these rocks sure are warm..

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

~~~
The Survivor was consumed by liquid fun
The rest of this, shall be carried out as a narrative of the fort, with me playing the part of myself
~~~

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Although he died to the magma, Sigun is debately the saviour of the fortress. With his sacrifice, we are able to smelt Cassierite and Galena, followed by us forging them into barrels for booze. With the alcohol situation stabalized, I can concern myself with more pressing matters.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Such as this

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And this.

***

With the unstable proportion of the fortress dead, we are finally beginning to make progress. No-one is thirsty and the metal industry is running. My current concern is the lack of materials to create a giant corkscrew, necessary for a screw pump.

***

Autumn now. Dwarves are still dying, but few, with large spaces between. We also now have a stable drink supply, Just gotta work on getting that pump.

***

Things are looking up. With the dwarf trade caravan that came, I was able to trade for enough wood to make a screw and some beds for the fortress. That means, a place to sleep + water.

***

Still no water. but I don't think it matters. Pic related

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

(Also we got beds :D )

***

I decided to name the guy who made the soopah bone spear 'Trogdor'

***

Now its winter. I got the well in place and made some silver doors, cos im cool like that.

I think I got safe water, its hard to tell..

***

A little though, should I really be storing food and drink in lead barrels?

***

Oooolah! Spring has arrived! Onto the next Leaky Noble!

Aftetr a count in the Unit List, I discovered that 75 dorfs, have found death in this fortress.

Not only should you be making lead barrels but you should be making toys out of lead too. You know, for the childrens sake. Think of the children man!

But really, good job Lazareth. I pray that the next two years involve the fort not withering as well.

Cheers bro.

Well, I imagine Euronen will do a good job, and I haven't seen Moogly in awhile so we may skip him.

First part

1st of Granite, 205, Early Spring
The current expidition leader, Ast Dallithkûbuk, finally decided it was time to do something. He decided to make this fortress run smooth.
His very first task would be to stop the very party he himself organized. He ordered to have the Granite Table deconstructed, that would make it clear the party has ended.

His second task was to reorganize the jobs in this fortress.

Vucar Rigòthlibash, Planter, would become a dedicated farmer/brewer. Cooking was not a priority at this very moment and neither was Plant Gathering

'Trogdor' Stukónurdim, Bone Carver, would remain a mason and get his job as bone carver back.

The Bowyer Ducim Urvadlenod, whos only job was making crossbows, lost his job. He should help Vucar with farming, Ast decided.

Ingish Obokadril, Carpenter got his job back as Carpenter. He might not have been a very good carpenter (level 2), but he was the best carpenter we've got (Why did he ever lose his job?). Of course, there isn't much to do for a carpenter in this fortress, so he also got the mining job

Clothier Rith Delethducim remained a miner/mechanic, but lost the clothesmaking job.

We don't really need engraving at this point, Ast thought. Thus Lorbam Kûbukadek became a stonecrafter. We need export products, after all.

The Trader Tosid Abanudil, would become a Mason.

Ast himself, being a Lye Maker, was very interested in the financial aspects of the fortress. He became a dedicated Treasurer

Finally, there were the Peasants Edzul Thîkuttomêm and Erush Zonëlot would do any and all jobs that didn't have a dedicated dorf.

2st of Granite, 205, Early Spring

The tables in the dining room were quickly deconstructed, and the party ended.

Ast needed an office to do his work, so he took a vacant bedroom (at least, that's what he thought it was intended for) and built a chair and table there.

---
3rd of Granite, 205, Early Spring

The next objective was to organize the workshops and stockpiles, because they were all over the place.

Another task is to clean up all the stuff lying about. This is just a minor task, though.

---
9th of Slate, 205, Mid Spring
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Migrants! Let's see what we've got here..
A metalsmith, a woodcrafter (why?), a glassmaker (I thought this would be useful, but we don't have any normal sand on the map), six peasants, a craftsdwarf, two animal trainers, a siege engineer, two engravers, a tanner, a woodcutter (what kind of sick joke is this?), a mechanic, a woodworker, a butcher and a herbalist.
This brings the total population to 31.

---
11th of Slate, 205, Mid Spring
Ast tripped over twenty animals today. This caused him to order the production of a lead cage to stick all animals in.

---
13th of Slate, 205, Mid Spring
Cleaning up everything is going fairly well
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---
3rd Felsite, 205, Late Spring
Finally, we ran out of lead. We have a lot of barrels, though.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---
9th Felsite, 205, Late Spring
The people were getting sick of seeing their fellow dwarfs not getting properly buried, so Ast decided to remove the graveyard, and build a tomb with proper coffins.
Of course, this meant that the masons were working overtime.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---
14th Felsite, 205, Late Spring
Finally, after over a month(!), about 60 animals were caged.

---
25th Felsite, 205, Late Spring
It was time to reconstruct the dining room, only this time bigger and it would not be a meeting place.

---
1st Hematite, 205, Early Summer
It's summer! Here's the report so far. We are running low on booze, but it seems that everytime someone drinks, more is made, so the number is not going down.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Rest is coming up.

Rest will come later. So tired.

---
24th Hematite, 205, Early Summer
Still not enough tombs to bury everyone.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---
15th Malachtite, 205, Mid-Summer
What's this?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A fey mood.. Ast hoped this would end well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ast was wrong.

---
18th Malachtite, 205, Mid-Summer
Another blow - no migrants.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ast also ordered the construction of a wall around the workshop, for everyone's safety.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---
23th Malachtite, 205, Mid-Summer
Because he ordered a couple of extra masons, the job was done fast.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---
5th Galena, 205, Late Summer
The dorfs have started using the refurbished dining room
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and they like it.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

---
1st Limestone, 205, Early Autumn
Autumn has come, and the fey mood dwarf finally lost it.

Caravan! Let's see if we can get some much needed WOOD.
Ast was dissappointed at the craftsdwarf for not making any crafts, but luckily he had a lot of clothes of the deceased lying around.

We have wood! The construction of beds was ordered immediately by Asp.

1st Moonstone, 205, Early Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Winter is upon us. Because of the traders, the dwarfs managed to get a fair amount of wood, food and booze.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The wood has helped make a couple of bedrooms. More beds are being built at this moment.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ast was happy to see that the tomb was completed
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and the finishing touches were being applied to the dining hall.

---
5th Moonstone, 205, Early Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Why do we have so many mechanisms? Better build a couple of cage traps, Ast decided.

---
9th Moonstone, 205, Early Winter
In case the booze runs out, we'd better have a supply of water that is easy to reach. At the moment, there is water, but it's miles away.

---
18th Moonstone, 205, Early Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The water supply is starting to freeze. It shouldn't be an issue at this moment, though.

---
20th Moonstone, 205, Early Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ah well, Ast never really liked him anyway.

---
23rd Moonstone, 205, Early Winter
Everyone has their own bedroom now. There are even a couple of empty rooms left!

---
5th Opal, 205, Mid-Winter
We ran out of wood again.

D'AWWWWW

---
10th Obsidian, 205, Late Winter
Apparently the moody dwarf died from thirst a couple of days ago. Ast didn't even notice.

---
23rd Obsidian, 205, Late Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
What a twist!

---
25th Obsidian, 205, Late Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ast was different from the previous dwarfs, of course. Once he had something in mind he WOULD do it.

---
30th Obsidian, 205, Late Winter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ast finished his artifact before the year ended. Amazing!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ast showing off his undying love for the Leaky Noble.

---
1st of Granite, 205, Early Spring
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ast barely left the workshop, and the year ended. A fitting end, I must say.

God speed, Ast.

Damn, the fort took longer to get rolling than I had originally thought. Work has piled up again and I have to decline a turn as diabolic overlord.
My bad.
