Talewolves
« on: December 15, 2009, 09:06:06 pm »

This is my project I am working on, I am creating a new race.

Before I get to the technical stuff, let's get to the concept.

The Talewolf is a wolf-like creature with talons, and a rapid breeding cycle. It can easily carry off dogs and other small animals, even children. It is extremely fast and is near impossible to tame.

Need Help deciding:
Should it fly?
Will it be aggressive, or opportunistic?

flying may be a problem if you want them to be a civ.

Unfortrunately, you can't determine the gestation period yet. Right now, it seems like the gestation period is somewhere between 7-9 months since the tame animals often give birth during the fall. However, you can set them to mature quickly (like most animals ingame) and grow up after a year.

For bieng near impossible to tame, just don't put the [PET] or [PET_EXOTIC] tag into it.

For speed, I know there is the [SPEED: ] tag, but not sure how fast you want it.

I haven't tried my hand at creating an entirely new creature, so I don't know about the rest.

For comparison, [SPEED:900] is default, and [SPEED:700] is elven. If you want a super-fast creature, probably put it at 700, or 650. Be careful though. A strong AND fast creature will be UNSTOPPABLE in close combat.

It's a creature.

Creatures don't "carry off" dogs and children. Civs may be made to steal children or loot. Creatures may be made to drink beer or steal loot. Aggressive is by [likes_fighting], while opportunistic lacks it.

Talons are easy by giving the Talewolf a main attack that gores and has the by stance tag. You should probably copy the toe claws of the raptors in the raptor mod in the mod sticky.

That kind of behavior has not been coded yet for creatures. Plus creatures don't need to eat at this time.

However, if you have it set up as a civ, the hunters will bring back the kill to the butchers shop if you have one.
