Name an engineer Mal for me.

And how about we get a day to acknowledge the save, and we get the rest of the week to play a ingame year.

Name me a miner aswell.

And yeah i like that system.

Also how about we swap the names around.
What i mean is e.g

Person1
person2
person3
person4

Originally goes in that order.
Person 1 playes a year, person 2 plays a year, person 3 does not come at the time so person four is swapped around with person 3.
So now the list is like

person 1 -
person 2 -
person 4
person 3
person 5

For a world try seed: 3684455984, Large world, search for
Aquifer: No
River: Yes
Magma Pipe: Yes
Chasm: Yes
Other:Yes

Should give you a Mountain region, Warm temperature, "None" trees (actually there are enough to work until the outpost starts bringing lots of logs, Mirthful surroundings, a brook cutting through the top left third of the area, and medium to low cliffs.

If it is the will that we start at a more interesting location, seed: 171297232 (also in a Large world), searching for no aquifer, underground river, magma pipe, chasm, and other gives you an initially more dangerous point with a nice chasm for defences/fun.  Almost no trees though.

They both have HFS nicely out of the way, and one of them (cannot remember for the life of me) has a few patches of red sand.

Both seeds also have a fair number of other good spots as well.

Also, I take it we are using regular DF, with no mods installed?

I would like a chance to play in a succession game that is for the less versed among us, so count me in. My specialty is traps, both premade and custom, so magma is a must. I find them more efficient then armies.

Dinner plans ran late tonight; the game will start tomorrow, likely in a new thread. I'll pick one of the worlds genned above, run the very first year, and then post the save and we'll move on.

Hopefully in the order of those who said they want to play in THIS thread.
Then added on with those who want to play in the new thread.

Just got back; taking a look at the sites someone posted above and will likely choose one and go from there. Expect THE THREAD to start later tonight.

Related: tehstefan and mal, you still here? just so we can queue up the next guy quickly.

Edit: I'm not using any mods except Mayday's tileset for this game. Normally I play with orcs (active during summer/winter) but I've copied a DF install and removed orcs for the purpose of this ostensibly newbie-friendly game.

Just normal game with maydays tileset?
K...
Time for me to finally learn how to change over tilesets instead of relying on dfg  :D

edit:*might have missed it but oh well*
So whats the play size gonna be? nothign bigger than 6x6... and hopefulyl not the dredded tiny 2x2 :O.
Ild like something in the 4x4 range, tis alright size with less lag..

Thread's up here. If I didn't include your name in the list of players, it's because you didn't explicitly say you wanted to play - if you do, let me know and I'll toss you in wherever's appropriate in the list.

Hey this sounds cool.

Disregard every other feature. All we need is magma.

LOTS OF MAGMA.

I'll tell you right now that you're going to regret showing me this spot.

I genned that world. There's actually multiple spots that qualify your filters - I searched for the smallest I could, and there's a 4x4 on half Untamed Wilds mountain, half Terrifying glacier.

This is going to be an awesome game. I'm reading up on Ice and Glacier now on the wiki to figure out how to start underground farms on glaciers using the water from ice. If I can get that working, I think this'll be an (incredibly challenging but) viable spot.
