Wouldn't a higher metabolic rate increase food consumption which is exactly what everyone wanted to avoid?

Are we really going to aim for biological accuracy here???

How long would it take for hair growth to camouflage us? I rather think we want to be gone by then...

But wait: Think about this. Fangs are much more discreet than venom sacs, and in our current stage that makes all the difference. I know -I-'d be worried if there was a mouse running around with sacs growing from its body.

Um, you need venom sacs - they feed the venom to the fangs.  Either alone is... useless.

In the traditional sense of the word?  No, he's been dissolved in magma.

Alternatively, we could use our genius for peace. I dunno, infecting a human and then using him to share our amazing biological knowledge and winning the MPrize.

After much deliberation, you decide to give the host fangs. It squeals with pain as a few teeth become pointed and elongated. (consumed 2 BMUs). You also decide to integrate the spider silk protiens into your skin, giving you increased resilience. (consumed 8 BMUs) The spider bite stings badly and is swelling a good deal. Analysis of the venom Reveals it's unusual for this type of venom to be this painful.
Your host scurries over to the cages and counts 5 of them, with only three of them occupied by some rather large rats.
