Parasite Quest! (Part one: It came from the lab!)
« on: December 12, 2009, 07:03:37 pm »

First off: What is this?

A little game of evolution in which you play a little parasitic worm lodged in a host's brain. The parasite controls all biological aspects of the creature and stongly suggests what it do. Keep in mind that the creature still has a mind and a free will. Now, using biomass, it can augment and change almost all aspects of a host's phisiology. The parasite has a perfect understanding of biology and can learn using the host. The parasite can even replicate structures in the biological things it consumes as well as synthesize all organic compounds it may contact.

How do I control it?

As a group you will suggest courses of action, and I will follow the majority. Action suggestions Are to be prefixed with >>.

Setting:

You sit in the brain of your lab mouse host, looking through the bars of your cage. A little food is in the nearby dish and a water bottle is attached to the cage wall. Computers sit next to your cage, whirring away. Cabinets line the wall on one side, and on the other wall of the room to your right are several cages with other mice. There is one door leading from the room, and there appears to be no other way out.

Health: Fine
Biomass Units (BMUs): 10/10
Host status: Content
DNA(s): Mouse
Mutations: None

I shall second:

>> Evolve greater dexterity in paws.

Mutate away super worm.

Mutate away the worm? What? You ARE the worm.
Anyway...

You consume 5 BMUs and develop more dextrous paws. Granted, they're not as useful as apposable thumbs, but they're better than nothing. You then fill up on food and water, replenishing your BMUs. You take a closer look at the cage door...

It's a wire door with hinges on one side and a bolt that keeps it closed on the other. Looks like you could open it with a bit of fiddling.

You hear voices on the other side of the door. You can't understand what they're saying, but they sound angry.
Also, out of the corner of your eye, you notice something skitter across the floor and into a cabinet.

Stats:
Health: Fine
BMUs: 10/10
Hunger/Thirst: None
DNA(s): Mouse
Host Status: Content
Mutation(s): Increased paw dexterity (1) [10 to next level]

I meant: Mutate away, super worm. like 'swing away, superstar'

funny how the lack of the comma effects things.

meanwhile:

After much fiddling, you manage to open the cage door. It swings open with a squeak, drawing the attention of the other mice.
You also realize that the voices have stopped.

Now, for a few quick restrictions.
Your worm may not replicate. However, for a hefty biomass toll, you may pop yourself out of the host's brain and exit the body. From there, you can burrow into any creature you can reach.
You may not sharpen your vision without knowledge of more advanced eyes.
Remember, any aspect of the creature may be enhanced with the proper DNA.
