1138
This year starts off better an worse than last year
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
My reputation is largely unchanged, remaining tarnished. I am actually doing OK with money and able to  spend on provincial improvements again, but a vassal has lost a province and I have lost a brother.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I am still young and healthy, but can only hope to break the mold of my generation within my family and live long like my father...

My niece will be raised in a monastery, so that I do not need to worry about her
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Bean-Alban is also with child again. I still have needs and desires in me even if not love...

I rebuild the forestry in Belgrade
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and the court of justice in Severin
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
hopefully they won't blow this one up.

My wife is whining again
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Fearing what would happen if I sent her away (might as well name her Isabella of France), I inform her I have nothing to spare for her... and quickly remove her from position of steward, fearing what revenge she might seek. Sadly, my income drops from almost 25 monthly to under 14 monthly under her replacement...

I am presented the opportunity to improve the state of the realm with some monetary investments
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Oh how I would love to improve my realm's stability.... its just that to do so would cost 600 gold for a chance at improving the stability and 1500 gold for a guaranteed improvement. I 'selfishly' turn down the opportunity... if not throwing the realm back into horrible debt is considered selfish...

Papal State must have been destroyed again
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
for they have emerged once again, but this time as my neighbor!

My wife is complaining again
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I inform her I have nothing to spare for her... I am really becoming annoyed with her...

I send my son Dauid to be raised by monks
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
they will provide him a well rounded education.

Bean-Alban gave birth to our second daughter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
she will be named Zoe, after my sister, I guess.

Illness...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
...good...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
...but even ill she is still very skilled... Oh how I wish I could trust her to be my steward.

He will be named Macbeatha.

Ominous.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

Macbeatha?  Be sure to find him a good wife, preferably one that doesn't encourage him to kill the current ruler and take his place.  :o

I think I once had a son named Oedipus once in my past games, I didn't play that game too long anyway.

Anyway, I'm afraid I might get the same curse as goron, one of my daughter is ill, I just hope she doesn't pass it on to her brothers.

The king of sweden and norway have rushed in and asked me to be their allies, probably because they know I'll become King of Lithuania soon. Only reason I haven't charged into all provinces I need is because I lack decent people to grant titles to, and I fear I might not live long enough to see my sons fully grown :S, I might just give them the titles now and rush it before I die.

EDIT: FRAKK YEA I'M THE KING OF LITHUANIA~

But now I have a rather bad reputation, I think King Oleg had enough conquering for a lifetime now, I'll just focus on raising my heirs and improving my provinces from now on. I'll leave the expanding to my successor.

This is a pretty epic thread... a question though. You've mentioned doing searches for potential spouses in an abstract sort of sense, but is there a way to actually do a search in the game? Or maybe to filter a list somewhere? Or are you just clicking from province to province? I feel like that would take way more time than it's worth.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Its not that much of an effort. Choose offer marriage, select whoeve you want, then just hover over the potential wives and it'll show their traits and skills. I'd say its more then worth it if you want a nice stewad, and a nice steward is a pretty crucial thing specially when your income is above 10.

Ahah! Here comes the wonderful ledger:
Spoiler: Open Ledger (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Select Characters (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Scroll Pages (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Sort Brides (click to show/hide)

NOTE: You may not have a ledger. The ledger is only in CK+DV.

EDIT: BUT, I will point out I usually spend quite a bit of time clicking province to province as well for some marriages. Its often a good idea to check neighboring provinces with appropriate inheritance laws for potential bloodlines you can marry into and take over. Unfortunately more often than not that is a wasted effort and I just go with the bride-finder...

Ahh.... that's what I was looking for. I found the ledger and the characters sheet, but I didn't know you could use that to find potential brides too. I was clicking around my neighbors one by one and by the time I got through about 7 or 8 I realized I didn't want to do that for the whole map.  Thanks!

I discovered about the ledger only recently... before that it was a torture to find brides.

Even knowing about the ledger I still tend to click through provinces to find brides... habit coming from years of doing without, I suppose.  :P

"Back in my day we didn't have ledgers either. We downloaded the bridefinder app:-)

Actually, I honestly never used the bride finder prior to DV... and I really don't know why.... it could have saved me a lot of time.
