I don't care about religious issues, I already have 14 count titles, hwich is the limit of how much I can take myself. ( after that, I start losing money) so all new land goes to vassals. The important thing is that other kingdoms don't take it, because then it becomes annoying. also, more dangerous since my army is big but not unlimited and my steward won't live forever... and half my army and money comes from her.

Thanks you. new conquests wait for me.

That sir, sounds like an impressive kingdom. Saddly, I'm never able to get more than 3 pieces of land under me before it all goes to hell due to no heir or war. This game certainly makes me feel like a mysogonist when all my wife does is make 3 daughters in a row (12.5% chance unless the game is doing something odd).

Oh, and on the whole children thing, go for 16-24 years old, preferably with the lusty trait. As soon as a baby pops out, she will start on another one, and she will tend to die in childbirth, leading you to get another 16-24 wife... What? Don't look at me like that!

I strongly disagree, lustful=bastards, bastards=trouble. You try killing them, you risk getting "kinslayer", you let them live, you're invinting a knife in the back. Seriously, never give a "vengeful" bastard a piece of land.
Indulgent, on the other hand, seems a o.k. trait.

Anyway, Andrea, yes, your reputation suffers from annexing pagans and muslims.

may I ask a question? do I lose reputation if I attack and steal land from religious enemies? I just defeated the strong one in the area and I wanted to take the opportunity to take all the now undefended vassals and neighborhood, before other kingdoms get the same idea. But my vassals already get a -6% loyalty due to reputation... which is not good. only luck and positive random events are keeping my kingdom away from destruction. Gifts to vassals help too.
It was my understanding that heathens were all free game (in fact, you gain piety for fighting them)
If by religious enemies, you mean pagans and muslims, then they are free for all claims to the first conquerer, although you might need to settle religious differences that can send you into debt/chaos/disbelief. They can be avoided if you can convert them by building a church.
Chaoticag supported my idea, and also made the good point that the religious differences in provinces can be troubling. I saw revolts in Severin and Turnu in my game, prompting me to build churches which did eventually convert the provinces.
But then this post comes along:
Anyway, Andrea, yes, your reputation suffers from annexing pagans and muslims.
Which threw me off. Now that I think of it, I believe Il Palazzo is right. Annexing does hurt your reputation. But its the annex part, not the religious enemy part. At one point (I forget if this is pre-Deus Vult or before some patch or something) you would take control and ownership of heathen provinces as soon as you finished sieging them. There was no annexation required, it just happened. So back in those days you did not take a reputation hit for taking heathen provinces. But now that you have to annex the provinces via peace proceedings, maybe it still accounts for reputation damages- which would explain Il Palazzo's statement. But I'm really not sure for certain.

And regarding this:

I disagree. Lustful is fine in a wife, she doesn't produce bastards, only the ruler can. And even then, you have a choice in the matter.

In the previous game I spent a good deal of time finding 16 years old girls with lustful and indulgent trait... just to see it all wasted when my dear count/prince/king dies.
This game, I just gave up and try to get a young wife, hoping that they will spend a long life together. young, and possibly experienced. wives are the best way to get 15+ skill people in the court. doesn't work for marshal though... misogynist middle ages, all your fault! I saw many girls who would be awesome generals.

Hmm, with the growing number of CK players around here, I wonder if anyone would be interested in trying a succession game?
It could literally be a succession game- you play until your ruler dies, then pass it on.
Or, we could set a time limit, like XX number of game years or whatever.

I have considered offering to pass my LP game on, but I am enjoying it too much myself :P

thoughts?

If any support drums up, possibly we could start a new thread- but for now this one should do OK

Well, you could have people claim sons, and if the son dies they get the next unclaimed one.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

I'm certain it works like that. Try playing Kingdom of Nubia for a while and it becomes painfully apparent.

And you're wrong here. Lustful wife makes infidelity events occur more often, causing your spymaster to tell you that your newborn baby is in fact a bastard. Come to think of it, perhaps making your wife your spymaster would solve this problem.

Keep going through this LP, it is too damn interesting to end in a gameover due to someone else. Instead, we ought to start another game if we want to have a succession game.

I've never had that event.
But I'll take your word for it.

Agreed. This LP is awesome. A succession game would have to be separate (and could be very awesome if done right. I think that it should be based on ruler lifetime rather than a year or a few years a player, as it could become very, very amusing :) )

I have, my wife was my spymaster at the time and reacted negatively to me not telling everyone. You'd think she was proud of her infidelity.
