Vault 0 would be filled with a bunch of robots and the corrupted super computer called the Calculator, I say it isn't safe there.

Why can't we just choose where we start instead of just voting where everyone should start?

Because he wants us to be a party. If we all start at a different place, we may never meet up...

I just wanted to be a traveling dude with Combat Armor and an Assault Rifle.
We could start in a certain area, like around the area of a vault or something.

We are travelling dudes, one with combat armour and an assault rifle...

Sometimes it is just easier to start with a party and assume that everyone is cooperating. Also, starting from a vault gives us all a mission that we should care about for our own reasons.

2. It gives us more opportunities to find cool gear...

2, I don't wanna be slaughtered by fricken insane robots.

I'm wondering, if we head west or east, will we end up in the places where the original fallouts take place?
For example, I might end up in NCR or Megaton?
It would take a long time on foot though...

Remember, Vault 0's Super Computer, The Calculator, was corrupted. And...
Quote from: Fallout wiki article about the Calculator
The neural network was also meant to assist in Vault 0's primary function: to initiate Mankind's post-war rebirth. When outside temperature, radiation levels, and poison particle counts returned to acceptable levels, Vault 0 was to remotely activate the Exodus protocol, which would initialize the integration of all Vault Dwellers onto the planet's surface. However, it was only a plan that never came true. The Calculator becomes corrupted due to fatal errors in his CPU and his data storage systems - human brains. The cybernetic machine becomes a mad personality, whose goals, while formulated as they are originally intended, now turn to a rather homicidal side. The problem was that the Calculator was entrusted with an army of robots that it should use.

Much of the Vault 0 population were killed by the Calculator, while those who survived became brain damaged due to the lack of backup life support systems to their cryogenic chambers. Ironically enough, such systems were scrapped during streamlining of the vault's construction, to be replaced by leisure facilities and provide pay raises to senior committee members. Taking full control of the Vault 0, the Calculator proceeded to await the beginning of the Exodus protocol.
If the sentence "Much Of Vault Zeros Population were killed by the calculator..." Didn't change your mind, I don't know what will.

By the way, by traveling dude with Combat Armor and an Assault Rifle, I just wanted to be a Wastelander that came from some settlement that was not underground.

Unless I nix the events of Fallout Tactics, as I said I would if I went with the vault 0 option.

The feasibility of being from outside the vault will depend on which scenario we go with.

In the traditional sense of the word?  No, he's been dissolved in magma.

As a (presumably) living character, the number of my former companions that perished is of less immediate concern. "those who survived became brain damaged" is rather more troubling...

P.S.
It isn't so much non-canon as pre-canon, there will be plenty of opportunities to be slaughtered or MIA...

I'd love to get in on this. Though I'm still wondering the medium, I assume things will be done turn style in a forum setting?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I decided to go with a medic type. Figured we probably would need one, and it should help out more in an RP type setting than it does in the game. Other than that I had invisioned him as a cowboy type doctor, wearing trench coat and dark brown hat, with pistols on his hips and a doctor's bag. ;)

If we go with the military team idea, I'm fine with that. Just give me a uniform, a sidearm, and a medkit. And make sure people shout 'MEDIC' when they need patching up. heh

Because we, like the whole of our universe, are composed of antimatter.
