End Gameish questions
« on: December 11, 2009, 06:33:22 pm »

Alright, well I just picked up LCS about a week ago. After messing up and dying around 7 times, but doing progressively better each time, I'm starting to get the hang of it. Right now, I'm:

Liberal Guardian, 998/1000 Juice
8 Followers + 3 Sleepers(I could recruit several more, but I don't see much need for them)
Law 9
Persuasion 8
Security 7
Disguise 7
Driving 5
Theft 3
Dodge 2
Pistol 2

With my orginization, I'm running a group of 4 Freedom Fighters(Me + Professional Thief + Athlete + Hippie(Driver)), and make regular raids against AM Radio and Cable doing imprompteau shows, the factories to destroy equipment, and occasionally the Corporate HQ to secure Secret Files to print for the Liberal Guardian. My other 4 consists of a College Student who is training Computers by harassing websites, another who has 9 Tailoring and is pumping out Expensive Suits to pawn or disguises when I need them, a guy who runs Opinion Polls everyday and a writer for the Liberal Guardian.

Now, the questions:
1) The CCS showed up around a week ago. Since I never did many violent acts, and the CCS went on a murduring rampage at the vegan cop-out. 100% are against the CCS(and 100% repsect and support the LCS). However, I can't figure out how to find the CCS hideout. I went to the gentlemen's club to try and find somebody to kidnap, but I screwed it up and now they're Closed Down. Any other way I can easily find CCS members?
2) The opinion polls are in my favor, with most issues ranging from 40-70% liberal, with around a third at 100% liberal. However, the government is still mostly conservative. Is there anything I can do except wait a really long time?
3) I can get into the Prison/Police HQ and the Corporate HQ no problem to steal their secret records, but I can't open the safe/hack the computer for the Intelligence HQ or CEO Residence. Do I need to publish these at some point to win?
4) Are there any bases I haven't covered? As I said I can recruit several more people, but I don't know what to do with them.
5) Why does my juice keep falling to 998 the next day whenever I break 1000 and get Elite Liberal?

For the CSS, you can just wait a month and the club will reopen.  That is probably easiest.

For the elections you are going to need to push the issues more liberal if you want elite liberals to start winning elections.  At your current level, waiting several elections will just result in a moderate congress and a liberal president (sorta like rl today.)  Elite liberals won't win en masse until most of the issues are elite liberal and only a few are liberal.

For the safes, you just need to grind your security skill up, which I think you can only do by trying to break open those two safes at this point.  IIRC, the only fast way to do that is by grinding security at the apartments BEFORE your lockpicker get's juice to boost their intelligence.  Those safe's will probably be easier in a future version.  You don't need to publish these documents or any others to win and they can be acquired much more easily from hacking.

Juice sounds like a bug to me.

How much Security skill do you need in order to pick the safe? I've never managed it.

I generally start recruiting a ton of folks, take them jury tampering to up their skills a bit, then park them all in a safe house and have them start writing for my paper. Issues start swinging pretty quickly. Once that's taken care of I start doing runs against the cable news or AM radio networks (depending on which one has the stage/mic closer to the entrance) to keep boosting juice for my main squad and swing the issues further. I think the fastest I've won a game in Classic Mode was eight years and the fastest in normal was something like 14 (the CCS screwed my newspapers a few times).

Not a great deal. I've had guys who can do it at 8 with reasonable certainty.

The juice issue might be due to liberals under your command screwing up somehow - don't take my word for it, I just think I recollect something along the lines of negative juice actions (such as prostitution) being handed down to leaders and such.

Hmm.

Well, I waited a month for the gentleman's club to open back up, adn this time was able to walk in, grab a yokel, and walk out without firing a shot. Using bondage gear/sleep, food & water deprivation/props, I was able to get a map to the bar in 4 days. At day 9 he converted to my cause.

Does this mean that the CCS hideout is in the gentleman's club(seems unlikely), or did I just get unlucky? Why was a non-CCS yokel in the club in the first place?

The gentleman's club is not the same thing as the bar.  Check the destination's list again and look for the Desert Eagle bar and grill, which should have the word's enemy safehouse next to it.  I believe it is in the same district as the gentleman's club.

Oh, I see. I got them mixed up(Gentleman's Club is also known as the Cigar Bar...)

EDIT: Damn, the CCS is tough. I just tried to take them out. Killed the guards at the door no problem(one was killed in the first round, the other dropped his gun), so I proceeded inside. That's where things went bad. After visiting some tables and taking out a telemarketer and two more hicks, I ran into 5 guys at once: two mercinaries, a veteran, another telemarketer and a fast food worker. They destroyed me.

Reloaded and tried again. This time, I didn't make it past the front door. I killed the guards, but two of my squad members were Near Death and two others wounded.

Third time. Killed the guard again, but inside a Telemarketer and Hick brought everyone from Liberal down to Wounded. I ran away, and as I was leaving I had 7 poliecemen following me. I have 7 driving now, so I tried to evade them, but I flipped my car and everyone died...

Ah, yeah, car chases with wounded drivers are a lot more dangerous than car chases with healthy drivers. I love the story of the attempts to take on the CCS; they are intended intended to be really tough. All the better when you manage to take them down. ;D

While escaping from a siege, three Liberal Clones of my hacker appeared. When one was wounded, the other three, would be, too. Then, when my writer died, clones of her appeared, too! Clones kept appearing, sometimes in various states of health, until the squad was destroyed. Any idea on how to fix the bug?

Hmm... Any advice on doing so? All of my guys are armed with CR-15 and Body Armor, but they still get chewed to pieces. I suppose I could fight evil in other places to try and raise my combat skills, but I don't want to go on a violent rampage. Or do I?

Hmm. Well, I decided to go on the rampage to see what would happen. After raiding the Genetics lab, all three factories, AM radio, Cable News and the CEO Residence(All were Closed Down afterwards) I had a respectable squad of fighters. I even tried raiding the CCS again, and while I wasn't able to get rid of them I was able to do much, much better and get out alive.

The only problem now is the insane amount of heat. I can't do anything now, because I'm jumping around safehouses like mad. I even had to go acquire 5 more safehouses(a crack house and 4 apartments, including one downtown) and I still can't shake them. It's been two weeks. Each day I accumulate ~20% heat, and all my safehouses are now at ~80%.

You can also try dropping by a crack house and talk to a gang member to buy guns. If you have the money for AK-47s, they're more effective than AR-15s and use the same skills.

Weird.  I actually found destroying the CCS pretty easy in this version (and I only got 2 of the elusive Heavy Body Armors I wanted).  It's probably because I was already regularly doing raids with casualty counts in the 30s or so (including a couple of death squads) so I was used to ti.

Leafsnail, I hope you'll make a post sharing your story, successes, and wisdom from the super-violent run once you win. As I imagine you will, sooner or later.
