The forum doesn't count as a game.

Also, mentioned often, is that DF is far from being a complete game, so who bother getting an insulting review of the alpha of the alpha of the summary of the early stages of a great game idea?

I think he may actually like this game as it is. The humor seems to fit his style perfectly.

He wouldn't have the patience for it.

Totally.  He doesn't even have the patience for a standard RTS.  I agree, however, that it fits his humor.

This came up a long time ago.  To quell the argument then, I sent him a very long email about it.

He didn't send a response or anything.

I suppose if we downloaded the wiki into his head, he'd love the game.  I suspect that by the time wee get the technology to do that, however, Dwarf Fortress might be out of alpha.

Maybe if there was a large disclaimer that DF is an alpha, because a complete game it is not.

It would be like submitting a novel with only a synopsis and fragments of text scattered about to publishers.

I seriously doubt Yahtzee sees it as worth his time to pick up and play Dwarf Fortress.
Though I'm sure he's heard good things, An ascii display for a 3d game just doesn't cut it in this day and age.

Yeah df is going to get a whole lot more cool and complicated crap in it. Although I think yahtzee would spend the whole time making fun of the ascii and how crazy complicated df is.

He could always sneak it in in a sort of 20 indie games review or something.

He's funny enough that even if he doesn't say much good about it I'll let it pass.  Besides...he doesn't say much good about alotta games...

Actually I think you're all missing two important things that have more impact:

1. He'd like the game, most like, it's up his alley (I think your comments on his patience aren't correct, but really it's all conjecture, as is yours, based on his reviews, since none of us know him)

2. DF would never get reviewed by something as infrequently updated (face it, once a week is infrequent for a reviewer) as Zero Punctuation, because it's not mainstream. If only a small group of people would get what he's talking about, it's not worth him talking about. Playing? Sure. Talking about on the website? Not in the slightest.

He's got bills to pay for The Escapist after all. . .

(There is a story behind this. . .)

This is an Alder Omelette. All craftsdwarfship is of highest quality. It is encircled with bands of cheese. It menaces with spikes of bacon, ham, and peppers. On the object is an image of dwarves in egg white. The dwarves are eating.
