Er, are you saying I can play?

Yes, he is.  He's also telling you about the rules for any other games you might want to play, so you don't have to ask again.

If the Random Generator puts Cobalt as Scrooge, I'm going to laugh myself to death.

Pretty much.  I still remember the game where, during the pre-game chat someone suggested that two particular people should be made scum.  I told them that the choices are Random so I won't do that.  Then the Random Generator actually made them scum.

Btw, Cobalt=She.

The rules are still slightly unclear: Do we send out the PM, or do we send it to you to send out? Can we ask for something BESIDES our wanted role? Approximately how many Grinch's will there be? Because this will get crazy, fast.

The rules on the letters shown by example:

Litia is playing.  According to her role, she wishes to be a Doctor.

During Days 1 and 2, Litia can send that letter, as written, to any other player (with a copy to me, of course).  Note she can't add to the letter and it doesn't say what role she wants (it used to?  No.  YOU SAW NOTHING!).

Night 2 Santa has the choice of marking Litia as Naughty or Nice.  If Naughty, Litia receives coal (which means she gets no powers).  if Nice she gets a present.  If a surviving Santa received Litia's letter, Litia becomes a Doctor.  If no living Santa receives her letter, she gets a one-shot skill.  Santa doesn't decide what Litia gets.. only whether she gets a present.

With a 13 players, there will be 2 Grinches, 1 Santa, and 1 Scrooge.  My mind wants to put in two santas, but one should be enough.

For Days 1 and 2, the game is effectively Mountainous with 1 Survivor.  After Night 2, the game changes.  At worst, the game is a Paranormal with one alien, and a mafia that knows a few roles and perhaps, has extra powers.  Chances are, it will be milder, with a batch of one-shots, a role or two, and mafia knowing 2-3 roles and gaining one-shots themselves.

Note that if Santa dies before Day 3, the game is effectively Mountainous with a Survivor and Night start.  Of course, that's rather anti-town which is a reason why Santa should be careful if he wants to breadcrumb.

Oh, one more question: Can the Mafia steal MORE than one gift?

Yes they can.  If one steals Doc, and Cop then they can mafiakill, protect, and inspect in one sweep.

Why so much power?  Because of the risk.  In stealing a role you just informed the player that one of the folks that received a letter IS mafia.  Even if the player sent 5 letters, ONE of them is scum for sure.

Before you think "well, steal the present then kill on the same night"  Presents are given out AFTER the nightkill on Night 2.  If you kill a player on Night 2 they won't receive any presents.

IMO, if I was a Grinch, I'd just Watch instead.

Hey! I have a good strategy for the townies, I think - use Codebreaker. That is, suppose there are 8 players - Adam, Bill, Charlie, David, Earl, Fred, George, and Harold.

Have one guy give letters to ABCD.
Have one guy give letters to ABEF.
Have one guy give letters to ACEH.
Then suppose that one person in each of these categories kills - you know that Adam is the mafia, since he's in all these categories.
Suppose that one person in categories 1 and 2 kill, but not 3 - you know that it's B, since he's in 1 and 2 but not 3. And so on, with modifications for number of players, number of mafia, etc.
Probably not going to work now that I just broadcasted it though. Mafia will definitely be super tricky about this.

problem with that setup:

No way to tell which groups did the kill.  All that you are told is who died.

Without any knowledge on which group made the kill, you won't be able to single any groups out.  With Roleblockers and trackers and what not you can, but there's not enough in this game to pull it off, and it won't be much for the mafia to lie about what role and results they get.

Makes me ponder about a Bastard game that allows for such thinking though...hmm
