regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

And it is effectively the luxor, with the internal structuring of the great pyramid of giza.

He means the little grassy spot on the right side of the screenie - effectively, how many z-levels you have.

I'm casting the Luxor out of obsidian. If I had a glass capable map, I would cap it in crystal glass, but I think I'll cap it in gold.  I also thought about shelling the entire building in black bronze, but the game makes it look purple, so that would be weird.

That sounds both awesome as well as reminiscent of Vegas.

Also, I just finished my MECHA. Except I haven't filled the magma in yet. (And I kinda cheated a lot for the sake of building something awesome) I'll post some pictures in a sec!

Every single bit of it is made of steel (except for the windows, of course, which are clear glass.), and before you say I cheated, yes. Yes I did. I cheated like mad. But I was bored and made a mecha. I might fill those big ol' cannons up with magma like I planned to =w=

The Great Wall of China might be a good choice. Stake out a really long, narrow embark and go nuts.

Untelligent, your first post makes me want to build a giant chess set. Unfortunately I'm not that ambitious, so I'll leave it to someone else.

...actually playing a game of chess with another DF player, emailing the file back and forth and 'moving' one piece at a time would be rather humorous.

Didn't want to hurt your feelings. Would have liked it a lot better if it was in its "transformed" or humanoid form, but then it would just be another humanoid statue. I think the cool point of a mecha is functionality, such as magma cannons and other cool features. You stated that yours has nothing like that.

Helms Deep. Or, sort of. I use to make my fortresses in huge valleys, and construct a huge fort at the end of the valley, with high walls, drawbridges and towers.

Also, I have a friend, who designs stuff for DF in Lego. Lego is quite good for simulating stuff for DF, since the dimensions will almost be the same, and you can see how you buildings will look like in the game.

Dammit, now I'm rewatching the Helm's Deep scene and I want enemies to be able to use explosives, ladders, and battering rams. :P
