Ok. so I have 5 cards and 100hp, each card is a role.
At night, I can use a card, and thus a role (meaning all roles are one-shot) or discard to gain HP. At the end, everyone draws again so they have 5 cards.
First off, no need for the HP part of it. All that does is attempt to give people free revives, which is much easier done by just putting roles with revive features in the deck. Just have it so that they have to do a discard or use a role, thus discarding is a 'none' with the matter that you give up one power for another.
As for the card system itself... beyond picking and choosing to make sure we don't end up with a role that breaks the game horribly...yah that'll work. It's a Crazy Role game and I'm always partial to it.
Odd idea: As found earlier, when everyone has lots of roles, mafia needs an edge above their NK to balance out. Perhaps this:
Each Mafioso has three actions they can do:
1. play a card
2. Discard, which represents their Mafiakill (only one can do this per night)
3. Play a 'joker' which nullifies ALL CARD EFFECTS that are used on them.
Before the "OMG Joker is OVERPOWWAAAAD" there's a few issues that show up here.
- You can't Joker and Mafiakill. Thus the person killing is vulnerable.
- Everyone that does anything to you will see their power won't work. Investigation? Nothing. Vig Kill? Nothing. Child truth? No answer. Invinity voter? 1 vote.
Yes it protect you, but it paints a big huge WTF sign on your head for anyone that notices. Of course, you could fake claim (there's a batch of roles that will do the same action). Hope you can fake it well.
