Dwarven Science: A Demonic Idea

I found some hfs on my newest fortress and know that some frog demons are in there. I have been looking around for all things demon-related, and came across this: http://mkv25.net/dfma/movie-881-trappinghfs.

Now what I want to do is capture them, as in the video. I'm pretty sure that I can capture, tame and train them if I add the [PET] and [trAINABLE] tags. I'm also going to tamper with the raws further to see if I can end up breeding them. I realize that once they kill one of my dwarves, they can't truely be tamed.

Now I am going to try to observe the outcomes as good as I can. I am going to see what exactly is possible of demons.

Looking at this from a scientific prospective, I want to accomplish the following:

-Discover how to tame demons*
-See if war and hunting demons function properly*
-See if they can be used against invaders, goblins, etc.
-Try and breed demons (after deleting [NO GENDER] of course)
-Find out how long it takes to breed
-Summarize exactly what can be done and how
-Successfully take a tame demon and slaughter it at a butchery
-Use as few cheating/changing raws as possible
-Post findings and movie as proof

(*- assuming it can happen in the first place)

Before I start, I would like to know if anything like this has been done and to alert me of any foreseeable reason as to why my efforts will prove futile.

If they're sapient you might need to mod dwarves to be butchering, cannibalistic heathens.

That's totally what I'm doing so I can butcher the tameable mermaids I'm modding in.

I think sapience is determined by the [CAN_LEARN] and/or [CAN_SPEAK] tags...

Update 1- December 10, 2009  3rd Malachite, 254, Mid-Summer

I have gone through the raws and deleted some tokens that I knew would cause problems.I deleted: [CAN_SPEAK], [CAN_LEARN], [NO_GENDER] and [trAP_AVOID] (for the sake of making catching them easier) as well as [SPHERE:FIRE] and [FIRE_BREATH] from the Demon entry to stop him from lighting fires.

I ran the game and opened the HFS. Demon activity was normal, no unnatural behavior reported. I did not save (for obvious reasons).

That's an awesome gif, but you should make the 'still' part of the animation a lot shorter so it loops more quickly.

Eh, thought it was better to make the sloan lasting, but I'll cut short to three seconds, and fix that one error.

Anyways my previous post now has the new gif, which is slightly less crap filled.

Can you have war anything other than dogs without modding? I've never seen the option in the kennels, and I haven't found anything on the wiki.

Adding the Trainable tag to any animal allows hunting and war variations of it. The kennels say War Dog, but it means any animal that has the trainable tag.

In unmodded games, only dogs can be trained for war, making them valuable.

Most dark lords mods them so that they can be used for evil ways.
