Please don't conflate some problems with modern popular psychiatry with the entirety of psychology itself.

Then again, you already seem to think "psychiatrist" and "psychologist" mean the same thing, so I'm not really sure what to say to you. You probably have a bit of reading to do before making broad, sweeping generalizations again about why an extremely diverse field of study is a tool by the man to make everyone politically correct.

Eh I guess I do tend to mix the terms up.

So psychiatrist is someone who deals with the medical side such as medicine and disorders?

And a psychologist is kind of someone who just talks to people and stuff?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who is licensed to prescribe psychotropic drugs.

A psychologist is someone who studies various aspects of behavior, the brain, consciousness, that stuff.  Some psychologists also do counseling and therapy-stuff, but no, that's not all they do.

The other problem is that, at least in the United States but frankly Id just be kidding myself if I didn't think it has infected other locations, is that the medical system has become a lot more commercialised.

That is where many of the "Lets drug you up" issues come from.

Anti-depressants work but the problem is not only are they given out like candy, but they are supposed to be given out under the premise that the individual is also working to fix the reasons for their unhappyness, but lets face it... A lot of people simply take it forever and heck if they work towards their true happyness.

Don't shoot down psychology just because there are people and companies who manipulate it to their own means. The World Wars proven it works and called it "The Talking Cure"

Psychologists can prescribe drugs.

Not all psychologists can prescribe drugs. At least I seriously doubt that.

After all, all "psychologist" means is that you study the field, not necessarily that you work with clients.

Only Psychiatrists, and some army psychologists(I believe), and some psychologists in Louisiana(I believe) can prescribe drugs.
