100% may be too much, but even political extremists can buck their position strangely. For instance oh so many elite liberals think the government should have forced the banks to declare bankruptcy last October even though that is the C+ position. (In their defense, the only other alternative discussed was the C position of bail them out without any strings attached at the time.) Or a recent USAToday poll shows that half of republicans want higher taxes on the rich, the liberal position, a number that surely included some arch conservatives given the state of the GOP. I'd say 90% swing on the issues is possible even with arch conservatives being around.
True, but 100% Elite Liberal on 50% of the issues, and 70-80% liberal on the other 50%, is still very odd - and it's not uncommon in LCS. I can achieve that my by second year.
I would say the swing should function like this:
40-60%: Moderates(Swayed by events in the same degree all opinions are)
20-80%: Conservatives/Liberals(Roughly 200% harder to sway from events, but can be done)
10-90%: Arch-Conservative/Elite Liberal(Roughly 400% harder to sway from events)
0-100%: Insane(Views will never change. Must be eliminated.)
This way, it will take roughly 12x more work to get a political issue to 90% as it currently takes to get 100%. This seems like a lot, but keep in mind it will also take 12x as much to sway back to conservative viewpoints. IF the political system was more responsive, I would enjoy this system more.
