There's been a gap... I used to play a lot (sometimes 5/7 games) and was active in all of them... But then, between having less time and people sucking more I laid back...

I still get the urge to play a good forum mafia once in a while... That can not really be satisfied by IRC...

btw, I thougth you meant that you'd like to mod if I was playing because I always get you as scum...

Well.. I'll tell you guys what.. I'm going to work on getting Bellsounder going.  Meanwhile, if I get enough folks fussing at me to go start another KotM I'll consider it.  I thought it was neat from a host perspective, but I'm not sure how the players liked it.

Have not read Les Misérables, because my French copy has so many annotations that it has evolved into a 3,000 page, 2-volume brick.  There isn't much time to make a good study of it.

I will submit here that every single translation of Hunchback (or Notre-Dame de Paris, if you prefer) I have ever seen was truly horrendous.  Insufficient annotations, poor translation of wordplay, terrible diction and cringe-worthy syntax.  It makes me want to go translate the damned thing myself, though I'm uncertain about whether or not I'd be any better than said "Anonymous" who apparently committed the travesty I gave my friend.

Ah, well... hopefully he'll be more fond of Madame Bovary, when that comes around.  I trust the Flaubert-translators over Hugo.  In any case, I think I've learned my lesson about handing him pre-Realism French novels.

Getting him something modern and polished this year because of my utter failure at Sound and the Fury annotations.  It takes ages to get those suckers done properly.

My grandfather bought me that, except he wanted me to choose whether I wanted it unabridged. I looked at the selection of 'unabridged' copies, and found them all to contain differing numbers of chapters...  As I was...ten? at the time, I decided that the one with the most was likely to be the least abridged.

French hasn't interested me, though it probably has one of the larger practical values. I should resume my polyglot quest sometime.
