Juice
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:28:09 pm »

Well, I just downloaded LCS today and I've been playing around with it. It looks quite promising. However, I have a problem... I filled up on hippies and musicians early on, and while they can earn a decent amount of money baking brownies and selling music, I can't recruit any more people. It stinks, because I have a Liberal Judge and a skilled hacker who visit me each day, and I would like to recruit them, but I can't. I read the wiki on increasing juice, but no matter if I do community service, partake in liberal disobediance, or something else, my juice stays stuck at 50. How do I increase it?

50 is the cap for most stuff that doesn't risk your hide.

The easiest way to get more juice is to start doing Bad Stuff. Letting prisoners out of the police station or the courthouse, influencing a jury at the courthouse, getting onstage at the cable news building, and getting on the mic at the AM radio station are all instant 20 juice points for everyone in your active squad. Often the map generator will put one of those ridiculously close to the entrance and you can whore it over and over. It'll also boost a number of skills--various ones do Security, Law, and Persuasion.

If you want to free up spots you've already used, you could do worse than getting them killed off. Send them to jack cars, and intentionally get them caught--then have them try to fight and the cops will kill them off nicely.

Be warned, you'll take a juice penalty for this. And yeah. Want to find a great way to raise juice? Influence the jury. Twenty juice a pop, insane law and persuasion skills to one liberal as well, while 20 juice to the whole group. Its also relatively heatless, if you do it right. Just don't go in with low law or persuasion. Twelve jurors swinging at you is not good.

I suspect you've never tried doing many illegal things yet in your game. The second the CCS knows you're "active", they'll come down on you like the hammer of God.

There's also hacking, though that does (slowly) incur heat.

True, forgot about that. Losing subordinates hurts your Juice. I generally have anybody useless off my Founder, though, so I can just go suborn a jury a few more times and catch right back up.

Yeah, you've hit a cap on what you can gain safely. Higher juice levels require a bit more hardcore level of sticking it to the man. Shooting random Conservative secretaries will also work if you feel like racking up a record as a violent criminal.

On the plus side, the higher stats you'll get with the higher juice levels will help in other ways beyond just giving you more recruit slots. You may also wish to juice up some of your subordinates -- they can recruit one person each if you get them to 50 juice.

Note that you can avoid the recruit cap in a couple ways. First, if you seduce someone into joining you, they are counted against a different cap that determines how many people they can maintain a serious relationship with simultaneously. This is based on your seduction level. Everyone can go steady with at least one person, but people who were seduced themselves have that first free slot taken up by their recruiter.

Second, if you kidnap and forcefully enlighten Conservatives, you'll avoid both recruit caps entirely. The properly enlightened will follow anyone, regardless of how bold and experienced you are (or aren't). This is especially handy for sleepers, since you won't have to worry about "dead weight" inactive Liberals taking up your recruit slots.

Actually, I've found hacking to be a bit odd in the past.  It does get people charged with Treason, or whatever it is, but in spite of having had a large group of hackers in a building for several years there has never been a raid on it.  My Liberal Guardian writers, on the other hand...

The way I have done it is that I send out my hippie underlings to solicit donations to raise their Persuasion. When that has been raised sufficiently, I have them spray graffiti. When they get caught I give up immediately and I have them always defend themselves in court so they raise Law (and Persuasion I think). When they are successful they juice up a lot. The jail sentence is 3 months if they fail and 1 month if they are granted leniency (possible Death if the Death Penalty laws are arch-conservative). When they gain enough Law and Persuasion they will almost never get sentenced.

I won my first game this way.
