Ok.  How about a little game?  Who's good enough to predict the outcome of the world cup (groups, latter stages)?

Here's a little excel spreadsheet I wrote yesterday (in a few minutes) for my friends after a long discussion about possible outcomes.

The spreadsheet does what it has to do.  Groups are decided by pts, goal diff, goals to, goals against. 2nd Stage has even an option for a tie with penalties.

What it lacks right now.  Is a nice visual interface but that's not so important for now.

Fool around and make your guesses.  Lets see how they change as the World Cup comes nearer.

EDIT:  Oh... I forgot I had made it in spanish...

EDIT2:  Done.  2 language support:

EDIT3:  Solved mistake in semifinals.  Thanks Ulric .

EDIT4: Beta Version available.
World Cup Prediction Maker 2010 1.39.xls

Added Database for prediction contests with rankings.
Fixed GA, GF, Database
In case of total ties.  Initial order is mantained.

Barbados will win.

What kind of odds can I get on them?

Barbados isn't even on the World Cup... XD

American countries are:  USA, Mexico, Honduras, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay.

This does not calculate probabilities.  It just lets you write the results and see who will face whom.

Well, I'm pretty sure my prediction is correct.

England beat Germany 8-0 on penalties in the final.

Well, I'm pretty sure my prediction is correct.

I fear England's propensity for mediocrity will lead to much dissapointment in our fair isle oncemore. I will be happy to be proved wrong.

Capello's got the Cajones, but have the players?

On a slightly unrelated note (although it is about football) I was reading a letter in the Metro this morning that suggested 'The Media' should have not released the John Terry 'story' just yet, and they should have waited til AFTER England won the world cup. Not after the world cup. After we won it.

cuh.

I suspect this poor soul was being serious.

1st: Germany
2nd: Netherlands
3rd: Italy
4th: France

Think Spain, Argentina, USA, Portugal are going to do well too.

I'd put Netherlands first, great players, but they've been out of form the past few international matches. Italy's got the best defense, but a comparatively poor offense. France is overall balanced, great players, but I'd suspect them of being out of form too.

England's way overrated, just because they have the best leagues. Prob is that a lot of the stars are international players. Rooney's and Crouch are playing a lot better, cooler heads now, so I think they could do better than last time. I've never liked Capello's management style though.. too quick to blame people when things go wrong. Not a good sign.

Brazil.. well, looks like the stars are getting a bit old. I don't think they'll win. They've faded out of the spotlight in league games. The new, younger team looks not bad, but not as good as Argentina's.

Not really, last year we got pretty far. I can see us going that little bit further this year.

Lol, Australia in the quarter finals I can agree. But winning is a little extreme ;)

Anyway, I finally downloaded this prediction maker. So, what's the answer? Germany pwns Italy in the end? :P

BTW, 4shared is damn evil! Should've put this on mediafire or something.
