At last, I've come into real power! As the Mayor, I can finally pull some sway around here! I can't wait to get to work. I don't know what Bengali's had planned, but that's over now. It's my turn to dictate the fate of this town!

Aw crap.
They voted me out.
First thing they did was insist on an election, and the son of that armor and fishmonger beat me out.
Sad thing is, I know it was a sympathy ploy, after his older sister died of natural causes - the first such at Screampacks in decades. What timing. What bloody timing.
Next year, perhaps... Next year I'll have my deserved authority.
For now, I'll just have to see how much I can play the seniority card.

Finally the Plan is back on track. My wife just had our third child today, but sadly only one. We had a ceremony today for the Births that Never Were. I figure our family being traditional and thus familiar will help make everyone more comfortable with us. Now that my son Xteosa Waxdent was elected, we can get the Council's plan back on track. It's a shame Bengali won't be around to see what he started, but such is life and such is death. And such are long-range plans for those of our race. I'd hoped for my eldest to take the seat, but such was not to be.
Perhaps the town in general has been musing on such things, as a carpenter seemed particularly inspired. He built a magnificent casket out of willow, decorated with rings of larch and spikes of willow. Growlblossom the Certain Lock. I think this will go very nicely as a gift to the Council's agent when he arrives next Spring, if all goes as planned.
