Author Topic: this is now renamed Hippo Civ progression! forget orcs, hippos are better!  (Read 3036 times)

I want to play as my super hippos. (since I can't find any super hippos...)

I right now only have Hippos in my riverlake file. and at the very bottom of the standard creatures file, I have a edited version of hippos with some more dwarven abilities.

I can play as hippos in Adventure mode, but thats not good enough. Here's my 3 files.

Also, why in the error log do i continually see:

Unrecognized Creature Token: [TILE

And why can I no longer find hippos anywhere?! Before I made 2 of them, I still couldnt find any!

EDIT: turned the HIPPO creature in creature_standard to HIPPOMAN, changed the entity name to HIPPOMAN. changed entity creature to [CREATURE:HIPPOMAN]

Also, forgot to mention, every time I change dwarves from civ controllable to indivi controllable, i cannot make new worlds. And when I take them out completely I cannot make new worlds.

Not sure, but you ought to try emptying out your data/objects file. I think this is one of those things that you need to do for this particular case.

If i end it...wouldn't it completely destroy it?

What I mean is delete all the items in that particular folder then regen the world. I think that should fix up your particular problem with the dwarves, although I am unsure because I usually leave the dwarves with civ_controllable.

You have two creatures called "HIPPO", one in each creature file. Why did you make two copies? That'll screw everything up.

OK so i made a pocket world. failed 200 or so times.
then it told me that its having troubles. I need to edit a few things then try.

G-FLex, read my edit:
EDIT: turned the HIPPO creature in creature_standard to HIPPOMAN, changed the entity name to HIPPOMAN. changed entity creature to [CREATURE:HIPPOMAN]

and why do i keep getting this?

You said you changed one of the creatures to HIPPOMAN. Make sure you changed its actual creature token name, not just the display name. Then maybe clear out your data/objects and try again.

Unless that error is old.


I'm not sure what's up with the tile thing.

If you look at the Dwarven civ, the creature is DWARF but the entity is MOUNTAIN.  You need to have the entity and the creature have different names, and also the non-civ hippo has to have a different name.

For example, the large_riverlake creature is [CREATURE:HIPPO].

Make the playable hippo be [CREATURE:HIPPOMAN].

Then make the entity be [ENTITY:HIPPOCIV] with [CREATURE:HIPPOMAN].

See if that works.   :)

Just a thing about pocket worlds is that they are actually a little too small. For testing purposes I have found that a pocket world that has had one of its dimensions stretched will generate almost as fast with much less rejects.

You need to have the entity and the creature have different names, and also the non-civ hippo has to have a different name.

This isn't necessary; I don't think Relentless Assault does more than name entities after the creature that makes them up (e.g. [ENTITY:TREANT], [CREATURE:TREANT]) but it still works.

Check the error log, and see if there are problems.

One last thing you can try is to just change the biomes and make hippos spawn on shrubland or forests for world generation.

Only errors i get in error log are the [TILE one.
I'll try what slink said.
Then ill try spawning them in different areas. Because the error i got for getting so many rejects was that it couldn't place a controllable civ. so like dwarves i added in benign.

So, fixed it. had to change start biome from ANY_RIVER to ANY_GRASSLAND.

now...i have an issue I didn't have in adventure mode...
