I use singular "they".  It sounds fine to me, although other people don't like it so much.

For a good many years I had chosen a female persona when I was online.  In games where you 'choose your character' I STILL choose female over male.

This interests me. If it profits you to answer, sir: What do you mean by a female persona? Choosing a female character, or saying "yo homies i be female, yo" or whatnot? (Again: If it profits you to answer. Feel free to ignore me.)
Additionally I would like to point out that this only reinforces the "On the internet, all guys are guys, all girls are guys, and all childen are FBI agents" thing.
Additionally when I write too much in this box the box starts spazzing and scrolls up a little after every letter WHAT IS THIS AND HOW DO I FIX IT AAAAAAGH

Both.  I almost always choose a female character in games whether it makes a difference or not-that still holds true today.  Meanwhile, as of a year ago back, I've used Jacquin (or some varied spelling of such) as my name.  1 1/5 years back I used 'she' to address myself.  I didn't 'correct' anyone, but when you see a female name show up, then no one will deem you a 'he' be default.

She does not, she has "man" in her name, uncapitalized, and that makes all the difference.

personally, I would just mark you as 'monk'.  If I were to use the darker path, there's always TEM or just 'the'.
