Now that I haven't heard of.

Are you quite sure?  I was under the impression that it just screwed with the raw files, and there's nothing in there that could cause anything like that.

And as far as modding goes, " leather" and freezeburn explosions are symptoms of a mod gone wrong.  Terribly, terribly wrong.

Terribly, terribly wrong?  Or terribly, terribly right?  Exploding anything sounds very dwarfy to me.

No, its realistic.

I dont think realism is a major concern in a game about alcoholic midgets fighting dragons and soapmen.

Did you set min temperature as low as possible, max temperature, temperature x and y variance as high as possible? Because I did that, forgot about it, and tried to show someone how to play DF on that world. Things started spontaneously combusting.

Actually, I've modded the game to make exploding stuff by mistake in ways that are very limited in their dangers...

If you misspell a product in a reaction, you will create cryo-exploding smelters.

Oddly, the dwarf who performs the reaction will often be able to escape the freezerburn by only being minorly injured, then running off to bed to heal before the cloud picks up strength, but their pets, running into the cloud after them, will get frozen solid.  I killed a cat that way in a reaction modding test run fort.

What do you mean misspell the product? While modding? How does that cause the exploding smelters?

When you're typing in the reaction products, if the game doesn't recognise the material you've typed in (e.g., thanks to a typo), it'll be a 'default' material, which have the tendency to be *really* cold, *really* volatile and/or *really* heavy. Thus, the product, when it is made in the smelter, says 'Oh, I'd better explode then. Pop!' and thanks to an oddity in DF's code, doesn't increase in temperature once it sublimates, leading to a cloud of freezing death-gas.

Ohhh. I thought he meant that he had somehow modded the game in order to make a mischievous deathtrap for would-be modders or something.

(There is a story behind this. . .)

This is an Alder Omelette. All craftsdwarfship is of highest quality. It is encircled with bands of cheese. It menaces with spikes of bacon, ham, and peppers. On the object is an image of dwarves in egg white. The dwarves are eating.

Simple: Just find a creature, any creature, in the raws and copy/paste its entry.
Let cook for one worldgen, and done! Instant madness.

WRONG

Copy and Paste the ENTIRE RAW file, and then prepare for even more messed up stuff.

And, they came. My fingers tingled, my nose twitched and my toes tickled... they came around the corner, over my bridge... Into my courtyard... Onto my trade depot...

Then everything near it exploded in a cloud of blood.
