Uhm. What's the topic? You haven't given us much to go on, but if it's macro-economics just be like, "It's all about supply and demand! And markets!"

Writing a 5 page paper isn't as hard as it seems when you haven't written that much before. I hadn't written a paper over two pages when I started University, and when they started throwing 10 page papers at me I thought I was never going to make it.

Research your topic, read as much as you can, then regurgitate the information you have absorbed into an essay format. Don't copy anything, plagiarism will get you in trouble sooner or later.

1. I simplify everything into a ridiculously compressed form.

2. I am a procrastinator.

O well I hope i make it.

I have the same problems. I tend to be concise and not go into too much detail when I write. This is just something you'll have to teach yourself to get over. The more practice you have the easier it will be.

I'm also a procrastinator, always have been. It's one of those things I'm working on getting better at, but not succeeding much in, but even as a procrastinator I get stuff done eventually. Motivation is easier to find when you don't have much time left.

Don't concentrate on "how am I ever going to write a 5 page essay" concentrate on gathering information and actually writing. I know it sounds pretty straightforward, but I always find myself wasting time worrying about the essay instead of actually working towards getting shit done.

Yeah. When writing, it is always hard to start but once you get going it's easy. Just remember, each paragraph should only represent ONE point. If each page has two paragraphs, that's about 10 points you'll be trying to make.

I find it easy when writing an essay to have a rough outline. It shouldn't be an in-depth outline, otherwise it's harder to make alterations. Just write down what points you're going to make, and what order you will make them in. From there, you know exactly what you're writing about.

The hardest part of any essay is the conclusion. Remember that the conclusion has to include a restatement of your thesis.

Since you're writing about Japan's Economy... Well, some ideas I just thought up:

1. Japan has a lot of old people. Compare it to a more youthful country.
2. It's heavily dependent on nuclear power, which is controversial in some circles
3. You can write about keiretsu, and compare it to business in the west.

Nice ideas, not directly related to economy but good to put in, thank you.

Increase the space between lines by a couple of points.

Make it 2.1

With double spacing it can be very easy to see that you're using it.

If you're not already, use arial, it's a very large font.
Increase all the margins of the pages by a centimetre
Put in a very large graph, and leave some space around it.
Go off on a tangent.

Such as isolationism, and favoring local producers.
