Duuuuke/Sofiaaaa, I thiiiink Idiom was sorta just positing, rather than actually proposing or encouraging... I'm afraid you miiight be being a little harsh. But then I'm the guy who thinks that even mentioning this is being harsh towards the two of you, sooo I may have a warped viewpoint.
The hilarious (yet serious) test of if electric shocks influence posting continues.

Query: Whut?
If that's a jab at my timidity I daresay that it is a far more fearsome thing than electric shocks that made me this way.

I believe it's because you were repeating your vowels at odd intervals.

Being known for being a horrible person is much worse than fading into nothingness.
i disagree so completely.

Tack for example, Me.

I started on this board, became instantly infamous, and then proceeded to stop being a dickhead.
Instant fame. As well as a minority level of respect from others.

So many people have done so many similar things over the years, intentional or not.
Not that mine was intentional. It just seems to have turned out that way.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

And if you hadn't stopped being a dickhead?

I'd have left in shame?

Yeah... Left in shame seems about right. Or chased out in shame.

Yes, but that was on a forum. This is the entire community going out of their way to be assholes. There will be no reprisal, we won't get a 'oh, they've stopped now, they're cool.' We will be attacked, DDOS'd and the like, simply because it'll be funny. Also it'd ruin Toady's livelyhood and rob us of Dwarf Fortress even if we did become accepted for stopping so yeah.

Not cool.

No, the speaking of three languages is fairly common, so anything past that is an outlier, and therefor tertiary.

Besides, tetra (four) sounds like terti.

I meant that third and tertiary are the same.

I didn't use it in context, Jackrabbit. I was just disagreeing with the Ideal.

However much, I do disagree with the whole "lets go invade 4chan" thing. Stooping to their level denies us bragging rights. Which would suck. All say Aye?

Aye.

Invading, say, 4chan, is like invading hell.  If you win, you are in Hell... and I say this as someone who has spent a good number of years on /b.  And worse.

Honestly, so long as enough folks know about DF to keep them funded, I could care less about what and if the Internet knows of us.  Knowledge is cheap, but wisdom is priceless.

I did NOT say "let's invade 4chan" I said "IF we wanted to have a considerable impact on the internet  (impact, not necessarily improve mind you) THEN we should invade 4chan". That is one of the only ways to do that. I never said it was a good idea, I said that IF we wanted to, then that is how it's done.

I know that, Idiom. You were not a part of that discussion at that point, you simply provided the topic. The entire thing was hypothetical, at least for me.

I don't think it would ruin Toady or anything, though it would steal some of his time initially moderating. We'd definitely end up with more mods. I'd vote Aquizzar.

DDoS and spam invasions I can see. That is why you really don't want to be well known on the internet. Generally the smaller, the better.
