I know some people want to elect Kinky Friedman, cuz they think it would be just so "hilarious" and "way wicked cool".
sincerely,
Gorjo "Kill the Donkey" MacGrymm

This basically happened in my boy scout troop. Everyone voted the official retarded asshole/clown as Senior Patrol Leader because everybody thought he wouldn't win and it would be funny if he had votes, or the above like Gorjo said.

Not fun times. Not fun times.

The person who got elected head boy at my sixth form was dropping out before the year he was elected for began. Another case of people voting for someone despite knowing its stupid.

Me and my buddies in HS got our best friend and class clown in as class president our senoir year.  We decided to go for it one day before the election and flooded the school with jokes ending in Elect Andy for Class Pres.  He won in a land slide.  i thought it was funny until the girl who SHOULDA been pres broke down.  She gave honest effort and countless hours of work and she really cared, whereas we did not.  thats when i learned how easy it is for political machines to twist peoples heads, and lost faith for a time in this thing we call civilization.

hey Ann, I am sorry.

And now you know how Texas managed to inflict its governor on a whole nation.

And you call other people retarded for throwing away their vote.  C'mon, not even Pat Buchanan?

You just made me cry a little on the inside.  In a "this makes me sad" way.
An approval rating so low that it not only broke records, but reached the point where it was once thought a rating so low would inevitably cause armed revolution (it proved that this point is lower than once thought, but still), dragging our soldiers into a country we didn't need to get into and now can't really get out of, and wrecking bad schools further instead of improving them like we needed, and signing the USA Patriot act.
How the hell did he get reelected?

Just so I remember

To be fair, and to answer your question, most of what we now know about the legendary incompetence of the Bush administration only became apparent after he was reelected.  Yes we had already invaded Iraq and such, but there weren't as many leakers and incredibly obvious signs until later.  Hurricane Katrina and the May From Hell in Iraq were where the cracks really started to show, and it all went downhill from there.
