Embark place search

G'day mates.

I'm in search of a special embark site. I'm not that proficient in parameter-fu and multiple regens haven't quite resulted in what I want.

I'm looking for:
Preferably cold, else freezing
Preferably woodland or heavily forested conifer forest, else broadleaf or mixed
A brook or river
A layer of soil
Must have Iron and Flux, if possible
Preferably magma pipe, or pool or not at all
Mountains are not necessary.

Basically I'm looking for an epic snowy pine forest :).

I'd be very thankful for it!

To get iron and flux with magma, you'll need to jack up the volcanism variance (since magma implies igneous rock, which implies no iron ore). Cold/freezing is straightforward; just tweak the temperature settings. If I recall correctly, freezing is somewhere around the 10-20 degrees range. To get trees, increase rainfall; to get more brooks/rivers, increase the number of river start locations. And of course, practically everywhere has soil.

I have a glacier with a chasm and some forests. I'll try to find the parameters when I get home; I think it may have everything you want.

How do I find the details on an already generated world?

Here's a site lacking iron, but you can always harvest goblins.  There is a cluster of volcanos in the general location, if that one isn't just right.   :)

dwarf fortress/data/init/world_gen.txt
open df, select create world with parameters
Snowy pines will probably already be selected if you pasted it to the top of the file, if not select it
generate world
use the picture in the first spoiler to find the site
embark... put together your team
and strike the earth

I'm not that dumb, I know that.
But still... I don't get the same result with a pure vanilla DF, neither with Dig Deeper.

It could be that Slink has the economic stone mod, that messes with world gen.

Erk!  I forgot to include the seeds.  It's pure vanilla.  I personally play with lots of mods but I keep a pure vanilla copy for things like this.   :)
