How many men would you say it would take to force the world under tyrant rule?
And what if they had advanced railgun technology?

Technically, they DO have rail guns.

All of them and none of them if you're going to propose ridiculously open yet technically specific hypotheticals.

This thread is now about Hawkfrost taking over the world.

Where is your main base?  If it's anywhere other than Mars, they're going to carpet bomb and bunker bust it until it's dust.

Presuming you do come in from space, where will you strike first?  How will you deal with the inevitable use of nuclear force once the world realizes it's their only resort against your superior army?

You would need a lot of guys to bring the entire world under your heel, because you'd have to fight a multi-front war (read, all of the fronts.  All of them ever) against multiple foes (read, all of the foes.  All of them ever.)

More importantly, you couldn't do it with just guys with railguns.  You'd need armor, because a railgun isn't the be all and end all of weapons.  You'd also need air and anti-air, because of us Americans and our AC-130 fetish.

Also the "War of Terrorism" isn't a real war (In the same way "The War on Drugs" isn't a war)

It would probably be more accurately a propaganda slogan used to justify the actions the USA was going to take.

Technically, they DO have rail guns.

We have prototype lasers built into 747s and C-130s, next generation is the size of a refrigerator and can be carried by tanks, APCs and fighters. The next generation of warships CVX series will have extra large power plants to power hyper sonic rail guns and masers, and while not shooting that surplus power can metabolize sea water into jet fuel. Why the hell didn't someone tell me we were living in the future already?

Mmm... AC 130. I don't think there's currently an existing weapon I respect more in this world.

I'm not sure if I like this turn of conversation.  On the one hand, it's nice to see people reacting pleasantly to each other instead of going at each other's throats some more.  On the other hand, incredibly specific military-hardward willy waving tends to lead to rapid post inflation and lots of singularly uninspired "demotivator" pictures.

But not for lack of material.

Ok, more like their uncles.  Which is even stranger.

You know what, I give it up.  Bad logic on my part.

Do you realize taking over the world would be a very stressful operation and impossible to manage at best? Think of all the rebellions that would occur. Rebellions, riots, and generally unhappiness of the people is why it will never happen.
