Do Screw Pumps Make Noise?
« on: November 30, 2009, 05:39:22 pm »

I'm making a new fort and I have a perfect little spot by the Barracks that would work well for the Screw Pump Workout area.

I'm just wondering right now if the Screw pumps, when they are in use, will wake up sleeping dwarves or not. I'm thinking yes, in which case I need to find a new location for a workout room.

Any knowledge on this would be appreciated.

I'm fairly sure they do, I've got a mist generator in the middle of my bedroom level and I'm seeing quite a lot of "slept uneasily due to noise". Luckily the generator itself seems to make up for it.

That would be as deadly to the wielder as to anyone else!  You'd sever your own arm at the first swing!  It's perfect!

Yep and IIRC they are a 16x16x16 box worth of noise.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.
