I just started again and I find this game impossible to play right now. Everyone I go someone has claimed land, there are no more trees, and everything is settled. Guess I will have to wait for another world restart because this is just ridiculous!

See above.

I WANT people to live with me, dangit! XD
Dude ill come, meet me at the ring man!

Edit: In-game name is Atomicwinter, I am at the starting place which is the ring I take it. Come pick me up here man and ill live with ya  ;D

Aye, it will be grand. But not for a while yet.  :P

My offer still stands- There's plenty of room about for additional Bay12ers.
Harr! We will create the best community to date!

I don't mind giving a small "newbie starter kit" to new players. If they can meet me at the Ring of Brodgar.

A typical kit is:

Hot dang. THAT'S a newbie kit?

I could use one of those, and I'm by no means a newbie. =X
your not the only one  :D

edit: anyway man I'm working on some more cupboards in my house, and a wine barrel. I was able to put a oven after you left and I have a bunch of bread I'm baking.

I would love one of those. I'm about to start a linen operation with a fellow DF player and I could use those boots, bow, and bear hood thing

That I don't. There's not a mine in sight.

It's worth mentioning that the world is made up of supergrids. The map on the map lib is just one, the one in the center. The entire world of HnH is essentially a 5x5 grid with the mapped one in the center. Almost all of the mines in this central supergrid around found, and most of the ones outside of it are taken too.

Wouldn't it be worth moving way out and trying to find a mine if you want to setup a bay12 community? (I don't yet play this so I don't know how likely finding one further out will be or how complex that is)

If we can get some sort of distribution plan up, I'd be glad to supply everyone with the stuff. And when my tree finally does grow to it's max, it should be around q129. My crop patch is rather small though, so I can only run around 6 bows and 3 straw hats per day.

Plus, I just traded some stuff for exactly 56 bars of mixed quality copper. When I'm finished alloying it with the cupboard and a half of tin I have lying around, I'd be happy to donate any leftover tin; and maybe some of the lower quality bronze for pickaxes/scythes/whatever.

I'm quite proud of my smithing tools, I managed to turn 4 bars of q37 cast iron and a q101 stick into a q90 pick.

I got some friends into playing this with me a few nights ago after trawling the OG thread (as I sometimes do every couple of months), we're still in the central area, quite near. It took us a while to find a tree that wasn't claimed and we're camping around that at the moment while we build up some basic skills and knowledge about the game.

When you say most of the mines outside the central cluster are already gone, is that just a guess based on the fact lots of people will have looked for them so many will be taken, purely from a statistical point of view. Or actually based on some sort of world-dump-y knowledge from someone in the know, like an admin?

Will not having a mine be massively detrimental to development, or are there ample opportunities for trade? Blaze's last post about trading for copper has my hopes up. To be honest I kinda like not having a purely self-sufficient camp, because it encourages socialising with others to barter for goods I simply can't produce. If I can do everything (as I could on Wurm, for example) I tend to become a bit more reclusive, rarely straying outside my camp and rarely talking to anyone who isn't in the same camp as me, which is a shame!

Well, I could certainly use a scythe and some tin. And all that other cool stuff. That's about 100q higher than the stuff I can acquire... man, I need a cellar. Chests. Scythe. A wrought saw one day would also be pretty nice... You practically can't get by without some metal, but man, everyone guards it way too tightly... need to set up a vending stand.
