This is an affront to the Scientific Method.

You can't argue with correct data.
which is exactly why I always had issues with Climate Change.

Advertising thread.  I'd suggest a lock on this one.

Anyway, these emails damage the credibility of the group of scientists who sent them, but doesn't undermine the vast majority of research into global warming.

Wow, what a shocker.  Scientists compiling decades of underfunded research on all human industry and activity and its possible effects on the whole damn ecosystem complain to each other that their results aren't rock-solid enough to sell to disinterested Luddite politicians.  Were you surprised?  I was surprised.

It means Climate Change is all figuratively, literally and pun intended, a hot topic.

I don't have time to go through all the articles on this, is their anything significant in all those emails or are they just using the fox news strategy of going through thousands of pages for three sentences they can take out of context.

There was an interesting post on this from Quirks and Quarks recently (Science news from CBC)

What does this mean?

What this means is that researches in all fields will feel pressure to not communicate with each other, for fear that a hacker will find a copy and release it, possibly out of context and or edited, in order to use public opinion to stop the research.

From the small amount of data I've read, the bulk of what is being called into question involves a few e-mails in which the researchers are mean towards anti-climate change groups, and a few about masking uncertain data.

Neither of these issues shock me, given how nasty the anti-climate change side has been getting in recent years.

Whatever the case, the scientific method has been compromised.

You can't mask data that doesn't support your opinion, even if you absolutely need it to push your agenda.  That is what we in the business call "really really bad"

I remember getting an email of this from my brother last week. Pretty interesting.

Of course, like many, didn't have the time to read through all of the articles.
