im already stuck in the game :(

anyone mind telling me how to prepare for my journey?

i cant add skill points to the dwarfs.

it says hit +or- but doing so does nothing.

i navigate to the dwarf, then to the skills list using the arrow keys and hitting +or- does nothing.

help!

Well, this may (or may not) be a silly question, but are you on a desktop computer or a laptop?

That may be a problem. The numpad is essential to play. You can change the key bindings, but I'm not sure how to do that. Its in the Escape menu somewhere.

In my experience, using the shift key and the - or = key doesnt work. 'Course, that's just me.

(sorry for double post... it wont let me modify it)

Go into the interface.txt in the init folder.
Then change the applicable +'s  with (shift =)

I play on a laptop too, but to use numpad i have blue buttons in keyboard:
e.g. + is under the p, p is -, 0 is *, etc

And i got a blue button in a corner, named "Fn".
If i press "Fn"+p i get a numpad -. There should be something like that on your keyboard too.
